Just joined today always looking for a new T/C forum to read.I really enjoy my Contenders ( and Rugers ).:D
Welcome Wheelgun! This forum is a little bit slow, not many here. I have shot my brother-in-laws 223 14 super and loved it. I may have to trade him out for something. What do you think is the best 100 yds barrel for deer hunting? I have the 35 Rem and it is good for the 50 yds now but was thinking maybe about the 260 or 243.
-thanks tri

The 243 and the 260 are Encore rounds ( a heavier frame for higher pressures). If you have a Contender the 7-30 waters is a real sweet cartridge in a Contender.Recoil is easy and it is one of the most accurate rounds in the Contender( I think). The 30-30 works good also.I have shot deer at 135yards with the 35 rem works great. Its hard to pick one barrel I like them all I just bought a 6mm x 30-30 improved last month and I am really impressed so far.:D
I've seen the 7-30 Waters barrels for sale on gunbroker alot. I was not sure about the round because I seen so many barrels for sale. I hope to get another barrel maybe this summer sometime.

Shop around before you buy.Gunbroker and Ebay are great for selling I have seen used barrels on ebay sell for more than a new one.I can give you a few places to look at if you want.
