Anybody try one of these yet from Cheaper Than Dirt? I'm not a big bipod guy, but this looks pretty simple and light, and the price is right...

My concern would be with accuracy if this is a paper puncher. I bipod that mounts on the barrel is bound to affect barrel harmonics. If the gun is for cold bore, first shot stuff it might work well.
I bought the Wal-Mart $39.95, Harris knock-off and am quite happy with it.

Barrel mount bipods will cause wear rings on the barrel.

I'm sith ShootinDave. I don't like anyting that clamps directly onto my barrel. Have you tried the off brand Harris looking ones at wally world? I got mine for about $20 and it works fine. It mounts to any sling stud.

Like I said, I'm not really a big fan of bipods myself, I've found I shoot better using a sandbag, log, backpack, whatever rest is handy.
I mainly posted this for those folks who are into bipods and can't or won't shell out $40 or $60 bucks for a big clunky Harris or something else pricey. :)

Exactly. Put the bipod on the stock, not the barrel or gas block. Putting a bipod on the barrel or gas block is not the best for accuracy.

I'm with Dave and the others on the Harris knockoff from Wally world. It makes a great quick truck hood setup. I used one on my mini 14 shooting at p-dogs.

I own a very similar bipod to the one shown and have used it on a mini 14. MY accuracy improved because it did actually hold the rifle steady (1.5 inch groups at 75 mtrs from a stock standard mini) but the point of impact shifted a lot (5 inches) I guess the lesson is, don't sight in with a bipod if you aren't goin to use one all the time.
I did notice that the rifle shoots best in a certain places on the forarm and moving the resting point on a bag or bench setup with change poi. I shoot my mini all the time with the bipod for best results.
