View Full Version : Arsenal AK question
Is there a better rear sight available for an AK. I'm looking for a peep sight or at least anything better than the original.
I believe Williams makes a peep sight that replaces the standard rear sight on an AK. Or at least they used to, I'm not sure if they still do. HTH

Williams still makes theirs. Mojo makes a good one too.

Oh yeah, I just put the Williams aperature sight on my AK, I love it.
Cheaper Than Dirt has it for $19.97, item # AKS-476
Natchez also carries it as an SKS sight, but it's the exact same sight as the AK one.

What is the threaded hole for in the top of the sight?

That's where your elevation screw goes. They give you two different length screws.
I used the short one, it ended up flush with the top of the hole at 100 yards. If you wanted more distance, you'd use the longer screw.
I also used loctite, "set it and forget it". If I shoot farther I just use a little "kentucky elevation".
By the way, this sight is identical to the SKS one, the package has instructions for installing it on both those and also the M-96 Swedish Mauser.
I have one installed on my M-48 Mauser too, just took a little "modding". I believe it'll fit Mosin-Nagants, K-31 Swiss, and possibly many more rifles with military-type ladder sights.
