View Full Version : My first T/C
I just bought a used ss Contender in 35 Rem 14" ported barrel, $400. I have not shot it yet but I have shot my brother-in-laws 223 and 30-30. My next barrel will be the 223 and then who knows what next.;)

E. Arthur Brown co. has some great TC stuff, also...
Thanks for the link 2rangers, I'll be able to catch this guy Ed at a gun show coming up April 1st in Tulsa, OK. They always have a great selection of stuff, one of the nations largest shows. I stock up on bullets for my mini or mags and this time I'm trying to decide what barrel to get for my T/C contender. I'm leaning towards 223 but maybe 17hmr, lots of selections to choose!!

If they offer a barrel in 6.5 Bench Rest Magnum(BRM), jump at it!! I've seen first hand how awesome and accurate this cartridge is. And it's good for hunting anything from varmints to deer, and some have used it for bigger game than deer.
Plus, it doesn't beat you up like the name would suggest. Just be prepared to handload for it, as it's not a terribly popular cartridge.
I have a buddy that swears by the 260 rem, the 6.5 bullets are the new hot round I guess, definately something to consider. I did get out and shot the gun finally, it was not to bad, I shot 9 times and did not hurt or bother my hand any way.

Thats what I thought when I bought my first Contender 12 years ago.I started with a 223 rem 14" tube and went mostly up from there.I have 19 barrels now and have had some others that I traded or sold. The Contender is a lot of fun the Encore and G-2 are a little heavier to me.All I have are Contenders never had a use for the Encore.Hope you are having fun with your T/C.
