View Full Version : nWos LATEST SKS. 1956 Soviet.
Here is my latest SKS acquisition. I picked it up Friday night.
It is a 1956 Soviet SKS, and yes it has been refurbished.
I took it to the range on Sunday and put 100 rounds through it. It functions flawlessly, and is great fun to shoot.
These SKSs are just plain addictive!
Good Shooting!

Somehow I wound up with ~1200 rounds long before this stupid shortage was on. Wish we'd get some more here soon, though
I've got around 2300 rounds of 7.62x39 right now. I have started reloading, so I should never have a shortage.
Good Shooting!
Is that an aftermarket mag? If so, what kind?

I like it! Especially the nice dark blued metal. Nice wood too. Nothing like good wood!
The magazine is a 20 round detachable one. It functions flawlessly. It has no markings on it, so I am really not sure where it came from originally. I got it with the rifle though.
Ya, I love a nice wood stock. Beats plastic anyday!
Thanks for the compliments guys!
Good Shooting!
Thread resurrection!
I got rid of the 20 round duck bill magazine, and put the original 10 rounder back on.
It is an interesting story on the magazine. When I bought the rifle last year, my friend (dealer) did not have the original magazine with it. He had the duck bill. I was kind of disappointed because I like having original parts, but the duck bill was cool, and it always worked flawlessly!
About nine months later at the local gun show, I was at my friends table. I happened to see a couple of original SKS ten round magazines. I bought them both for really cheap. One of them I gave to my Father In Law, and the other I kept to put on this rifle.
Well, when I got home and installed the ten rounder I looked at the serial number on it. I was amazed to find that it was (is) the original magazine to this particular rifle! After all that time, I DID get the original magazine! My 1956 became 'complete'.
I took her out and put 40 rounds through her today. Great fun, flawless functioning. I just thought I would share since I have 'Svetlana' right here in my lap as I type this.
Good Shooting!

No way!! Love the furniture on that SKS by the way, glade to hear that you SKS is now complete!!!:)
Ya, I could'nt believe it either! Just by chance I got the original magazine!
Thanks for the compliment GARZA1290, the stock is pretty nice. It does have a crack on one side of it, but that gives it some character!
