"Nan des' ka?" means "what is this?". "Baka" means "knucklehead". Sorry about the dis, Blender, couldn't resist. Actually, I got the best reactions from Okinawans when I said the price or cab fare in Japanese. The Japanese take it as a compliment when a round-eye speaks the language, even badly. On the other hand, in France ("Un, deux, trois," remember?), in Paris in 1970, I experienced a lot of hostility when trying to use my high school French to communicate. The frogs get insulted if you don't speak the language perfectly.
