Stll not done (duh!) but a few sorta clear pics .
Did the bolt chamfering ,polished bearing surfaces to 800 grit and headspaced to .043 +/- , trigger work - factory parts polished to 1000 grit for a shade under 3#, bolt hold open , buffer - 1/4" silicone filled tubing , mounted a temporary 3x9x40 . Then the stock was attcked with a drill pad sander and gun drilled to lighten it (within reason) .
Bedded the reciever , action screw lug and 3" of the barrel ,the remainder was floated.
Finished to 320 grit and 8 coats of Truoil sanded in with 800 grit . Will be adding a new coat once a week for a few months .
As it sits , I acheived my goal of 'Light Walker' : 4 1/4 # wood stocked with scope and loaded mag . Now a light weight sporter contour barrel would be sweet . I may just shorten ,set back and rechamber the OE barrel just for S & G 's.
A VQ extractor and a 22 Mag handle assy are on the way .
Two years of lurking and I am addicted to gun mods !
Critiques welcome - not my Best work - but did turn out pretty well IMHO .

How does it shoot you ask ? I am now on the way to the range now ( It is above freezing already ! :D )

Well the range time was good!
All targets shot at a lasered 40 yd backstop (snow was 'deep' at the 50yd board for some reason )
1st target from lower right :
Fed bulk ? shoot 1 / clean with 3 wet 3 dry patches for 20 rds
From upper right :
Fed bulk shoot 5 / clean 3 wet 3 dry patches for 30 rds
Figured the ammo needed changing ....and it did !
For the record , the next 6 , 10 shot groups, were fired in 3 second cadence .
The lowest holes were All the first shot in each group !
Grp 6 - much improved !
Just kept repeating with each brand/type , right in the 5/8 - 1/2" range .
The Green Tag is good , 'cuz the Marlin TDS loves it too .
The big surprise was the "Hanned" Wildcat T22 - older than sin and crusty still grouped Minute o' pocket gopher .
I think the factory barrel can stay awhile.

:D Thanks !
I really wish I had base lined the gun before I did anything to it . Live and learn -moddin is way tooooo much fun .
Stopped at Cabelas on the way home (weren't open yet when I left ) , picked up some Wolf MT to try the next time .
Also got a real BoreSnake (I have an Otis and a homemade patch hog )and just got through cleaning them up . What did "we' do before Hoppes invented that critter ? Man ,I am now a Boresnake convert !

Very nice and light too. By the way - did you do the front of the fore stock or did it come that way - and if you did do it - how?? curious minds need to know...

Coyote - I am takin that as a sneaky compliment !
The pseudo schnable is my own creation , instead of cutting the section where the band
was- it spoke to me "I am a schnable" . Gave it the eyeball and agreed .So the drill/pad sander made it . The entire stock was thinned by approximately 3/8" ,tapering to the schnable (have you noticed I really like that word ! :P ) . The area of the barrel channel was also relieved with several 1/2" holes as deep as I dared right up to the barrel bedding . Under the butt plate is also gundrilled with holes running to just shy of the grip . All the drillings were sealed by pouring minwax spar poly-urethane in them ,allowed to soak in , then poured back out . I figured beings it is "just" birch why not remove as much as possible ? If it doesn't work , you can always glue stuff to it ! .......or BUY a different one .

MtStream...you did a wonderful job on that stock! Like Cajungeo said...it shoots well too. Glad you joined the forum, it is a wealth of knowledge for a wide variety of firearms. Good luck! Mark

Thanks Guys !
Without the 2 years of inspirational lurking , I 'probably' wouldn't have done this all within the 1st week . I've read your posts and seen all of your pics of your guns - I am hoping my attempt at 10/XX modding is at least on par with the other works of art .
( yeah , it ain't gonna end is it ?)
Coyote - if you look at the schnabel , it is a real close fascimile to the Ruger International metal nosecap . You can't get the stock from Ruger without sending an original in return , BUT the hardware is available. With a little glue, scrap birch or walnut boards and the nose cap hardware ..... yup I feel another project coming on !
