Hello all!

Well, I am finally getting around to posting about my beautiful Early Christmas present for this year!

It is a 1953 Russian SKS. All original, all numbers matching, pristine, and UNFIRED for the past 52 years. It looks like it came straight from Mother Russia YESTERDAY!

A couple of weeks ago, my Wife and I were at our friend Jays shop (he is a dealer of antiques, and firearms) to take his Concealed Carry class. I posted about this in another post.

While we were there, he had a whole bunch of pristine rifles laid out on his counter. Apparently he had just purchased an entire collection from a local gun collector. There were MANY beautiful rifles laid out for all to see. One of them however, immediately caught my eye. There, nestled between a mint condition AR-15, and a Ruger Number 3 rifle was a PERFECT 1953 Russian SKS.

I got quite excited about it, and gingerly picked it up. Perfect condition. No rust, dents, scratches, or damage of ANY kind on this 52 year old weapon.

Seeing my face, my WIFE just KNEW that I had to have it. She asked me if I wanted it for an early Christmas present. I of course said YES! She told me she would get it for me.

She turned to Jay and asked him, '"How much?"

As he had just got the gun that day, he had no idea how much to ask for it. He just blurted out, "$300 and it's yours!"

My Wife said, "SOLD!"

She took the money out of her purse and plunked it down on the counter.

I have a beautiful, thoughtful, loving Wife.

Also, I now have a beautiful, pristine, original, UNFIRED 1953 Vintage SOVIET SKS! I could not be happier!

The SKS bug has bitten me now. I think I want to find a cheap, beater SKS to just shoot the shizzle out of. I don't think I want to sully up my pristine RUSSIAN. It is a beautiful piece of history!

Nice looking SKS you have there NWO. I'd shoot it if I were you, you can't hurt it. Might as well enjoy it if you are gonna plunk down good money for it.

Enjoy!

Hi Rugmar,

Thanks for the compliment.

You know, I am kind of leaning towards the 'shooting it' side. I know I could never wear it out or anything, and it WAS made to be fired. Hmm.

I do want to get another one though. You know, just so I can have TWO!

Good Shooting!

That is a very nice looking SKS! My SKS did not look nearly that good so I messed with it (see gallery). They really do shoot good though. Go shoot that one or get another to shoot. You NEED a shooter.

I've got one in the same condition that I put maybe 20 rounds through (I couldn't help myself). I think I'm gonna get a yougo like you did though as a burn-the-barrel-out shootin iron. Just to much beautyful history there that I'll probably kill myself to devalue. I kinda think of these as the Mouser rifles of this generation of rifles. Remeber when you could pick up a WWII all original mint condition mouser for like $25! Then again...remember when you could pick up just about any SKS for like $50!!
