What do you need to legally, become a pastor, perform marriages, etc.? Also, would the degree have to be accredited?

Calvary Chapel Bible College (CCBC) does not offer accredited degrees, would it be of any use to me, to get a degree from them? (A.Th)

I have waited a while for other folks to respond, so I would know as well. I couldnt tell you what it takes to become a "licensed" preacher. I do know that Patrick Henry gave a speech inspired by him being a wittness to a beating given to a preacher who refused to obtain a license to preach from the crown.

That being said, I dont believe you should have a license to preach the Word of God. The Word of God certanly does not teach that. I dont believe that we should even have marriage license,ect... Think about it, a license is a permision slip to do that which is otherwise illegal. I believe the church has given way to much power to the government. The 501-c3 status given by the IRS is as such that you can not preach the word of God and keep the status. We let them say separation of church and state, then we go ask them for a permission slip to preach, marry, bury, ect....

I believe that one should be at least 30 years old, and be anointed (ordained) by an elder Pastor. I believe that can be backed up with scripture. The whole license thing can not, IMO.

I too have a diploma from a Theology school, and would have no problem getting the license. I have buried several people and I dont think thier ressurection will be hindered because I didnt have a license.

Sorry I couldnt help you. Maybe someone else can post it, I would like to know myself. :)
