I recently purchased a Choate supressor/compensator off of Ebay with a "welded" in set screw (Someone used liquid metal -NOT loctite) for my Mini 14 Ranch.

I carefully got it drilled out and retapped and it's just like brand new. In the process it got shiny (all the wiping, oil, etc,) and I also slightly marred my front site and muzzle brake. I have seen some mention of bead blasting, but can't find that link now.

I have access to a bead blaster but they are using Stainless Steel shot. Will this dull or shine the parts I mentioned? <_<

I did a search on "bead blast" and it appears that bead blasting will give you a finish close to the stainless steel Mini; however, they always mention using glass beads, so I don't know what effect using stainless steel shot might have.

Thanks for the "heads up" Another company I work with uses sand, so I tried that but I think they were out of abbrasive. Just for fun I tried the wire brush on their bench grinder and it worked great with just a light touch! :)
