What is the difference between Glass bedding, and Pillar bedding?

This might be in the wrong area Spark, but here it is...
Glass bedding uses fiberglass resin to make a tighter fit between the action and barrel of the gun and the stock. It stocks side to side and forward to read movement under recoil, which stops flyers, etc.
Pillar bedding uses pins and corresponding holes to keep the action in the same location in the stock every time. Sometimes screws are used in the action and the screws go in to the stock. The screws can only go in to one hole so the action doesn't move and the action is in the same spot every time.
This is a pretty general description. The internet is a wide place, with lots of info...just search for it using a search engine.

Caj. did a real good piece on bedding a 10/22 in the tips and tricks section. One word of caution-Make sure you use the correct type and amount of release agent!!!!. Otherwise you will glue your rifle together, like I did, and have a hell of a time getting it apart and getting it working again!! :lol:
