Fact:
As of Dec. 31, 1937 there were a total of 942 M1 Garand Rifles shipped to Stores.

Back around 1978/79, I was a WW2 re-enactor. I needed a weapon that was correct for my unit & time period. Running around with a replica Thompson & replica .45 auto wasn't doing it for me. I needed something that went BOOM. I had a Model 1917 rifle, but not correct for a WW2 Special Forces/ Front Line unit.

I'm a history buff & collect alot of military items, including weapons from all sides during different conflicts.

I purchased my H&R M1 (CMP) because they are a true piece of history that I could get and afford. I shoot it in some matches just as is (Service Grade), haven't cleaned it up other than the action and barrel. I love it, and my son will be the reciepient of it when I am gone ( I am not planning on going soon so he will have to wait :D )

I have never found a classic rifle I didn't like, and when I spotted a mint condition RRAD rebuild Garand sitting in a pawn shop I just couldn't say no. It and a 1907 Stevens VLR (my #1 gopher getter) both came home with me that day.

I liked WW2 rifles seeing "Saving Private Ryan" convinced me I had to have a Garand but there were no clubs near by for CMP and I also don't like buying a gun I can't have hands on first. I found one at AT near Fort Drum and fell in love. I found it before going in the field and the store held it for me till I came out. She came home and is a great shooter.
