Firstly, I apologize for this being such a crass first post in this forum. Just don't know where else to discsuss this.

I am sick and tired of religious zealots and hearing about which side is better. Repent now or burn for ever, blah blah blah.
Religion has caused more problems, arguments, and war any other reason on this planet. Look at Catholics and Protestants (okay this one is pretty much swept under the rug now), Muslims and Christians, everyone and Jews.
Almost every religion has basically the same moral beliefs taught to their followers. Love one another etc.
I don't believe in a darn thing and don't care to. When I die I die. End of story. It's kind of nice to think I might end up with relatives or maybe 10,000 virgins. It's the fear of death and the unknown that provoked gods, religions, and beliefs like that into being. Guess what? Amazingly science told us Apollo doesn't ride a chariot of fire across the sky. No need for him anymore. Religion is no longer playing a big part in American's lives anymore. Can't say much for the rest of the world though. We can explain away a lot of things. However, I do respect that a person has their own beliefs. If I go into a Catholic church I remove my hat and am quiet. I respect that this is someone else's house of worship. I don't go protesting, yelling, and screaming that they are wrong. Immature, and disrespectful.
I do agree that America is losing the high morals and standards we had in the past. I believe this comes not from religion but from the family and community.
Another thing making me mad. Beat the crap out of every last Palestinian leader and terrorist. Now I'm not trying to take a particular side, but Jews have been persecuted for going on something like two or three thousand years. Crap's sake! let them have their own country.
Then there's the website www.godhatesamerica.com by that preacher in Kansas. That sparked this post. I was somewhat perturbed by the whole line of thinking until I saw the "Thank God for Sep. 11" and picketing soldier's funerals. Holy Crap! Would love to meet this person face to face. Maybe this person should be sent to China or better yet North Korea where this talk would get that person most likely killed. God did not decree that 3000 or so people should just get wiped off the planet. An evil a$$hole and a bunch of blind followers did. I guess the children in those buildings were so gruesomely evil they deserved it in his eyes. Protesting that kind of thing in public is really going to make you look professional.
Then there's the soldier thing. Ignorance must truely be bliss. Maybe he should realize without the Armed Forces we would not have the rights we have today. I spent 5 years in the Navy. How much time did that person spend defending this country? I saw my share of people who were obviously gay and who were obviously dirtbags. But the majority were people who were strictly hetero and just trying to support families. They are not "lazy incompetent idiots". The military is a place for a lot of people who normally couldn't get good training, discipline, and college money to get it. There are also the share of people who just want to serve. Picketing or disrupting a funeral is one of the lowest things I can think of. Obviously he never had any sense of values taught or proper upbringing
Another big one with current events. God did not smite the town of New Orleans because it was full of sinners. New Orleans had so many people die in a natural disaster because they were stupid.
*One, why would you live in a city surrounded by levees while you're 15 feet below sea level. Kinda like building your house on a dirt cliff in Malibu.
*Two, how hard is it to call a friend, or loved one and ask, beg or plead for some help in getting a ride out of there if you don't own a car or some other mode of transportation. Listen to the weather. If need's be hoof it. Hey there's a hurricane that might be coming, might want to think about leaving.
*Three, the people of New Orleans make their own law just like any other city. There are more important matters at hand than improving how to party in the city. Like improving the pump system and levee construction. The mayor of that town blames the federal government for being slow. What a big freaking surprise. The federal government has been slow, is slow, and always will be slow (except for when it comes to taking your money). I don't like bringing this last point up, but the city is mainly composed of lower income African American. Well normally lower income relates to Welfare and government dependence. Surpise, surprise, they want the government to do everything for them.
I think that just about wraps it up. I apologize again for this being very out in the open, rude, and broad. I just had to get it off my back.

a few years ago somewhere I heard that 95% of the world believes in a higher power. so i dont think there is the possablity of not hearing about religion at one point or another. But atleast you have enough integrity to respect their opinion which puts you ahead of most.

I stand corrected on the religion being prevalant thing I guess. I just thought it wasn't used much in America anymore. Maybe Americans aren't adamant about it like others in the world are. Reminds me of Turkey. Been there three times and that is one very fine Islamic nation. I think it's the only one where church and state are separate. Something like 95% of the population is Islamic but only about 10% practice. Can't remember the exact numbers. My 100 facts about Turkey book is at home :) I firmly believe in tolerance and respect of another persons beliefs. But when they start pushing it on me, then we've got problems.

I agree with you that religion and differences can be blamed for alot of problems in the world. I believe in the spiritual war is always raging of good and evil. I see many countries that are intollerant of everyone including there own people. I will continue my battle in the spiritual realm and you will not be bothered by my actions because I pray alot and see good things that come. I see other countries that America does business with like Saudi and China, the Saudi's let their people become so hate filled they flew planes into our buildings. China is becoming a superpower of its own and wants to be able to challenge us and win. I hear the rumors of war with them and it baffles me why. We are not imposing any religion on them for the hate they give us.
When you've talked with a missionary that has travel to the third world coutries and done good for them, they will tell you stories of real spiritual battles and real demons and everything in the dark that scares people is real. The people they are helping know the battles also and are religious about seeking some gods for help. They will believe in your God if they have power over the evil and demons. I hope to be strong and travel with the missionaries. People in America have many conviences that others don't, they can live there whole lives in a 10 radius of their home and get all there needs filled, live very comfortably. Many will live and die just believing in the physical and will have no need for the spiritual which I understand, with all needs met at Wal-Mart or local store, a good job and saving aquired, there is no need to pray for God to keep the evil men and planes away.
I will live and die with my faith and do battles but with weapon not of this Earth. I will do my best to be a good wittness and help all who are in need no matter what they believe. ;)

Very well said, Tri. Your testimony is an inspiration and wonderful witness. Men like you are what make the Christian brotherhood a wonderful thing to be part of.

Thanks Doc and Sword, I like to try to be a good witness but you guys also do well. I try not to be offensive but to win hearts for Christ with words of wisdom and love. I see and read alot stuff in the news and around the world, a fire was lit inside my sole when talking to a freind that had parents of fultime missionaries. He told me things that happened to them, the things to go to movies for intertainment but the scary stuff is very real and the spiritual battles rage. When you feel that heaviness on your shoulders keeping you from moving or standing up or the voices that you hear in the dark, sudden cold chills when entering a room. All the things that make you hair on your neck stand straight, don't be to quick to think its in your mind and not real!!

God bless gentlemen, tri :usa:
