View Full Version : The Mom that protesting the loss of her son
I felt sorry for the mother that lost her son in Iraq but he did sign up to be a solider and knew the hazards of the job. I heard this lady is getting councelling from Michael Moore, which is even more sad...protesting mother (http://www.thehometownchannel.com/news/4839463/detail.html). I was reading the Bible and came across this chapter but I know it won't be of any comfort to some.

Ecclesiastes 3
A Time for Everything
1 There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:
2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
9 What does the worker gain from his toil? 10 I have seen the burden God has laid on men. 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. 12 I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live. 13 That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil—this is the gift of God. 14 I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that men will revere him.
15 Whatever is has already been,
and what will be has been before;
and God will call the past to account. [a]
16 And I saw something else under the sun:
In the place of judgment—wickedness was there,
in the place of justice—wickedness was there.
17 I thought in my heart,
"God will bring to judgment
both the righteous and the wicked,
for there will be a time for every activity,
a time for every deed."

Not choosing sides but here's my take:
I think her problem is the way Bush side steps all the tough questions.
He keeps calling it "hard work" and doesn't seem to be bothered much by it
(at least not on the golf course, anyway).
It's tough. Have a couple kids, spend the hundreds of thousands of dollars and
incalculable time raising them and then have there be a lot of ambiguity around
the war? It's a hard thing...

It's easy to talk religion as some end-all/be-all---right up to the point the loss of a child happens to you. Yes, he signed the papers, raised his right hand, I sate your name, repeat after me. I did it too and understood the risks. However, that does not legitimize throwing lives away in a war started on BAD intel. The same CIA that FAILED us on 9/11 (and the FBI shares that blame, too) also FAILED us yet again in providing BS evidence of NBC weapons in Iraq. They didn't have any! And the country that WILL---Iran---and the country that now DOES---North Korea---get off scot free. Now we're in Iraq "spreading freedom". We were told the guerillas were "dead enders on their last legs" a couple years ago. The White House wouldn't even use the word "guerilla". Well, they sure show a pretty sophisticated knowledge of explosives for "dead enders". We underestimated this enemy and rushed off to war without proper intel. And the intel has stunk all along and 2,000 American soldiers and Marines are dead because of that.
The more Bush refuses to see this woman, the more he's going to look bad. Don't get me wrong, I like Bush on some things, but the war is not one of them. I supported the war but now no NBC weapons were found and I realize the CIA completely blew it AGAIN on the intel. And AGAIN, it has cost thousands of lives. Who are these clowns in the CIA?! The FRENCH have better intel! How's that for irony?! Aside from French military reluctance against anything other than unarmed Greenpeace ocean vessels, they knew Saddam didn't have NBC weapons and that's why they didn't want to get involved. Meanwhile, Halliburton and the rest are making billions of dollars and our troops STILL don't have proper armored vehicles MONTHS after Rumsfeld got called out over it.
I do not support the political philosophy of this woman. She will find herself being used by the Left and then discarded when she is no longer useful. But neither do I support the military incompetance being manifested by our leaders who, at the sight of a single Cessna in Washington DC go running for the fuehrerbunker as American troops are blown up daily due to a lack of proper armor.
Everybody agreed to go to war and knew the risk, compared to previous wars we have not done that bad on loss of life, 3/day on average which is pretty good for a war. I don't agree with Bush totally on everything either but I won't sit my easy chair and say he was wrong and this was bad and he should not have done this or that. I will not be a back seat general, like CBS Dan Rather and LA Times, Washington Post. If her son was a civilian and the terrorist were blowing things up here she would have a right to complain, he was a solider doing his job honorably.

Tri70,
Question, are you a parent?
-Stooxie
Yes, I have 3 kids and I would feel honored if they served my country even to give the ultimate price to pay. Our pastors son just left for Iraq and a good freind from work was called up and left last week. They are defending us from those that are bent on causing harm to Americans and our troops, I hope they stop them and get to leave Iraq in peace. I knew a father that got to visit his son after he was hit in the leg, they both worked were I work. If we pull out we look like cowards!

Well, in that case, at least you're putting your money (and you're
children) where your mouth is. Gotta respect that!

We gotta finish the job or all those that want to hurt us will try to get at us here at home. More people die in the streets of our own cities, innocent children that did not sign up for battle, nobody is protesting the mayors or chief police its easy to right off the life of someone in the poor district of the city, let us protest that too.

Did you know that her husband has now filed for a divorce!
President Bush has met with this woman (right after her son was killed) and she praised him immediately afterwards. Obviously something has come unhinged in her mind and there are plenty of bad apples willing to exploit this poor woman..... that's the really sad part!
As I'm sure it has been pointed out over and over again..... what may now appear to be 'bad intel' was the best available at the time..... and when you're the leader of any organization, government or business, there are some decisions that you have to make with the best information that you have.... you just CAN NOT wait to be certain..... because that will be too late to do you any good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Except the country in that region that DID have nuclear capability is getting off scot free!! Iran had nuclear reactors. Iraq did not. Gee, who should we have taken out? Now we don't have the resources to fight them. Brilliant.
If we can finish we can say "Next!!" I think we waited too long to go into Iraq to find the WMD's, everything was there, the rockets the burried labs, even some powerful explosives.
-tri :usa:
We can't say "next" because we can't finish in Iraq. Not to mention we're learning what Rommel's Afrika Korps learned about tank maintenance in the Middle East 60 years ago all over again. Where's the armor we'd need to push into Iran? In the shop. Where's the manpower? They can't even scrape up enough troops for Iraq.
Powerful explosives are not reason enough to justify an invasion, sorry. Any nation that does mining has powerful explosives. If ther NBC weapons existed, why haven't they been used already? Perhaps Syria has them. Or perhaps not. The fact is, Iran WILL have them sooner than we know. Then what? All it takes is Musharraf to get bumped off and Islamic radicals will have nuclear weapons AND the delivery vehicles. India probably won't tolerate that and try taking them out. While that's going on, North Korea will probably figure on doing their re-run of Hitler demanding the Sudetenland or else. China might decide that's a good time to bring Taiwan into the fold. Israel? In case anyone hasn't noticed, they're busy with a possible insurrection of their OWN people right now.
The options are:
1.) A draft in the United States. Thanks to political correctness, this just isn't your sons, but your daughters also. Just a hunch, but female POWs seized in a war with Iran probably won't be treated very well for obvious reasons.
2.) The use of nuclear weapons on the part of the United States. It'll work. In fact, it probably should have been done on 9/12. Probably the best option of them all. But who has the guts to do it?
3.) Airstrikes on Iran. And going on the same intel we've been getting, we'll probably take out a teapot factory and a used camel dealership. Iran will be furious and probably sign some kind of mutual aid pact with anyone willing to put their tanks where their mouthes are. China? Russia?
4.) Ignore the whole thing outside of Iraq. Unfortunately, weapons are pouring in from Iran into Iraq right now. Seal the borders with Iran? We can't seal our OWN borders!
I don't see any "winning" here whatsoever.
It's always easy to look for the negative in everything in life..........
I'm more of a half full not a half empty kinda guy........ it may not be a smooth road over there (Iraq) but it's a heck of a lot better than it was!!! No battle or war goes according to plan......
We'll deal with Iran if and when it becomes neccessary (unless Israel beats us to it).... better to leave North Korea to China..... China is hopelessly addicted to all the cash we're sending their way (ala Walmart and everything else) and don't think for a minute that they're going to let some sawed off little crazy munchkin screw it up for them...... they may threaten Tiawan but again.... they are addicted to our cash flow...... take over Tiawan -vs- selling us knock off designer products..... Tiawan is safe and secure.........
I think using a Nuke (unless it is a so called tactical nuke) would be a really big mistake......... great to talk about but not a wise decision...... all bombs kill good folks along with the bad, but Nukes kill ALOT of good folks along with the bad.....
The Russians don't have an particular love for Muslims..... last time I checked they were having plenty of trouble with them as well...... again .... China likes our money too much (and they don't much like any religion)..... they'd gladly let Iran glow in the dark just to sell you another cheap CD player...... a mutual aid pact with any Muslim Nation is a fools errand since the Koran tells them to lie and break promises to their benefit..... (that's why Israel will never be able to strike any kind of legitimate peace deal with Palestine...... it just can't be done......) neither Russia or China are PC blind like the USA.... they know these folks can't be trusted and they don't trust them....
Have more faith in your military men and women and make sure you thank each and every one of them that you come across..... I do!
Have a great day!
trying to make deals with evil men just doesn't work, I feel sorry for the Jews because Hammas said they would not put down their guns. I agree on the China, they like the American money and it is paying for all their development. It is hard to be the Pres of the strongest nation and trying to please everyone, we can't do it. Let us do what we can with those that are evil as long as we do something!!
