Gentlemen,
Ordnance before WW2 set up plans for the IPF and the PMP. Each of these semi military units were to be issued M1 Rifles. Think about it!!!
As most of you know the old DCM was to train riflemen so that in time of war there was a pool of Civilian Instructors to help with recruits going into the armed forces of the US.
You may also know that the US Military has not met their quota for the past several months. The US Military is using the National Guard and Reserves to keep troop levels up in this war on terrorists. Many people in Washington, D. C. have stated that many of the “soft targets” here in the US have little or no security. The “SHTF” threats we write about are maybe here already. Canada has stated that there are groups in Canada that have links to terrorists, but state that they have not broken any laws in Canada so they will not help the US in this matter. Also they will not help the US on our common border. As for the southwest states, they are being overrun by Mexicans and just about all other types of people trying to get into the US. The Minuteman Project seemed to make a dent into this problem. Here’s my point. If the United States government called for help from the ranks of the CMP, NRA and in general to do guard duty with trained Police, Border Patrol or our Military units to help guard pipe lines, chemical plants, fuel depots, etc, how many of us would show up? If it was put into play and we received a few weeks of training, then were turned over for duty, you would be working with a unit of say 10 guys at a chemical plant. The trained civilian units would supplement each shift of regular security people and would be under their command. They would in effect triple the security force. It could be done around an area where you live or say within 25 miles from where you live. G. I. pay. You could only give of the spare time you have to help out now and, of course, your sidearm and rifle. What types would be allowed? Many of you have radios, binoculars, night vision equipment that would also help. The whole point is maybe we’re already in a “SHTF” problem. What do you guys think?
