So my favorite dealer finally got his hands on some LEO mags and, naturally, I picked one up for about $40. Price was not really an issue since it was so hard to find them initially.

I went to test it and feed and fit were great.

The problem: the follower won't lock the bolt open after the last round.
Actually the bolt chipped off a small piece of plastic from the follower the first time because it didn't lock back and grazed the back of the follower. Luckilly not the piece that activates the bolt stop.

I compared it to my old school factory 20 and the angle that the follower stops at is a little different than the LEO one. Could I bend the feed lips so the follower comes up a bit more?

I'm thinking I should just go with some masen 10rnd and switch to ruger followers to get a reliable 15rnd mag...any opinions? Thanks!

yes its too bad to hear that you had problems with your leo mags because from what ive seen they arnt that cheap to buy,on the 10 rd john masons the only thing i can tell you from my experiance is that unless you got a extended lenghth recoil spring that you can get from wolf springs is that with 14 rds in it the action wont function reliably because to much pressure in the mag but they do work pretty good with 12 rds in then though of why i only stick with 12 in the mag,i hope this helps.

You can get a new follower from Brownells.

You can reform the feed lips if they are bent. Use needle nose pliers, and wrap jaws with tape so it won't scratch the lips. You can make it into a good mag.

Or you can return it for another.

Did your LEO mags come in Ruger boxes? Mine did and all 4 functioned perfectly. They have 'For Law Enforcement..." stamped on the bodies of all 4 mags. The mag bottoms have the Ruger stamp and they are mint. Lock perfect to. Bolt locks open fine.

Yea it came in the Ruger box and from a reputable seller. I don't know what happened, but maybe he got a bad batch or something. He told me there were others that said they had similar problems.

I may try bending things a little, but it'd sure be nice to get something that just worked out of the box!
