They are just cheap USA and Western junk sold by Bushmaster, avoid them.

No not at all. PMIs are good, some say just as good as Ruger, and some say better than Ruger. I have over a dozen and they are very good mags. Problem is PMI went out of business with the creation of the Assault Weapons Ban so you have to search around for them these days, but they can be found pretty easily. The best current production non-Ruger mags are the 20 round steel Pro Mags which are essentially Ruger 20 round copies. They are sold all over the internet and at gun shows for about $15 a piece. The Pro Mag 30 round polymer mags are decent as well. Other than that, it's pretty much a crapshoot, though some people rank John Masen mags up there with the others I mentioned. I personally don't like them though.

ETA I forgot about the old Thermolds. They are good mags also, but hard to find as they are no longer made. The Pro Mag polymers I mentioned are rough copies of these.

PMI mags are a decent substitute for factory mags, but factory mags are still the most reliable mags you can buy at any price.
