View Full Version : Ack! Problem with my new 20rd Promag
Hey guys. Just recently my new blued 20rd Promag magazine came in for my mini. This past weekend I went out to fire it, and the first time through everything worked well from the first bullet to the twentieth. The next three times, however, things were not as eventful. First, when I tried to rack a round into the chamber the round didn't seem to want to go in. There was resistance and I had to retry. Also, at random times I would get failures to feed. I'm thinking the feed lips are too tight, but I'm not sure. What do you all think?
Most mags require a breaking-in period. You might just be patient for a bit.
But not too long. If you're really not happy with it, contact ProMag. They have an excellent warranty.

Would the mag break-in a bit quicker if I left it loaded?

Not usually. The movement of the spring is what causes the wear, not the continued compression.
In the case of the feed lips being too tight, having the magazine loaded won't change that. Run some rounds through it and see if the feeding improves. If it doesn't, as was said, contact Pro-mag. They have a good warranty policy.

You might want to see if it feeds reliable leaving out a couple of rounds. If so then most likely the spring tension is a bit strong, and will wear in. Otherwise call pro-mag they have a good warrentee policy.

This actually sounds like similar problem I had a few weeks ago. It wasn't the mags at all, it was a dirty chamber. If you use ammo such as wolf, your chamber will get gummed up. I used a small bent bottle brush to clean it, and it worked fine. Doesn't hurt to give it a wurl. Good luck!
