I would like to find a really good place on the internet that shows Ballistics of Rifle Calibers includeing the WSM's WSSM's and the Remington Ultra Magnums.I want it to help decide which calibers are truly superior to the standard cartridges.Any help is greatly appreciated. :usa:

Remington and Winchester both have some ballistic information on their loads. What I would do is get the muzzle velocity, bullet weight, ballistic coef, etc and put in a scope height of 1.5" or 1.75" and plug those numbers into this sites ballistic calculator - http://www.perfectunion.com/forums/index.p...p?showtopic=718 (http://www.perfectunion.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=718) You can select your 'zero', increments, etc. There are also tabs on the bottom to dislay a ballistic graph, 1/4 and 1/8 come up graphs, etc. I'd fill it out for the different loads with the zero you want, the scope height, etc, and print off the information and do a side by side comparison of both the trajectory and the force each load carries.

Well, that's what I do anyway. Plus for my weatherby I put in all the information for my load and printed off the 1/4" come up chard and trajectory graphs for different zero yardages and put them in my hard gun case so I can make changes in the field if necessary, ie change from a 100 yard "shooting range" zero to a 225 yard hunting zero (up 7 clicks) or farther if needed, I just look at the chart.

I'm with Scruffy. I always look at Winchester's webiste (www.winchester.com). They have pretty much every load on there. Check it out. Sometimes I like to compare loads like the .223 vs. the .22-250 Ruger, etc, etc. Give it a look.

Thanks alot for the advice,it really is handy,I guess Im going to have a hard time finding a chart that has Remingtons Ultra Magnums and Winchester's WSM along with their standard counter parts like compareing the .270 to the .270 WSM etc. Thanks again for the tip,it is handy I was unaware of it.

Best!! :usa:

All you need to compair balistics is the BC of the bullet used, and the muzzle velocity of that bullet. For short range (under 300yd) balistics, the actual BC isn't even all that important, and velocity differences of 100fps dosn't change things a lot (just a couple things I've noticed after plotting a lot of external balistic curves).

Download Remington Shoot from the Remington website. It will graph any ammo they sell and it's very cool.

The Federal site Federal Cartridge Company (http://www.federalcartridge.com) you can pick from a big list of their different factory loads and compare their velocity, energy, bullet drop, and wind deflection. Its in a chart not a graph of which I think you were looking for. If you want a chart I remember the National Rifleman having them when they did their stories on the WSM cartridges. Or you can take the data from Federal and plug it into an Excel file and make you own graphs.
