View Full Version : The Last Supper
Here is an interesting story that goes with the painting of the Last Supper.
Last Supper (http://www.angelfairy.us/af20.html) I don't know how true it is but it makes for a good story anyway. As humans we have the choice to make good or bad of our lives, I think of all the bad decisions I made when I was 19 and almost killed myself on a motorcycle at 23. Turned my life to God and try to do good everyday and stay away from things that will harm me.

I was told that DaVinci story when I was in catholic school about 40 (has it been that long, man I feel old) by one of the nuns, only she didn't use Charlie Manson as Judas.

As an Art Gallery Owner, and Professional Artist..... who happens to be very, very, interested in Leonardo, let me tell you that I have never, ever, in all my many years of reading art history, and the biographies of DaVinci heard this story....... nice tale, but I would be shocked if there was even a fraction of truth to it!
DaVinci had a habit of sometimes painting men to look so fair, they could be mistaken as women.

I have heard that before, and while I find it to be a good allegory I never really believed that it was true. And neither does Snopes (http://www.snopes.com/glurge/lastsupp.htm)

I love snopes!!!! After 9/11 we had people sending out the "Don't buy BMW" emails, and the like. We shot him down right with a snopes link. (Just to fill in, the myth was that Ford had donated a jillion trucks and BMW basically did nothing. In fact, the opposite was true: BMW donated the most of any car manufacturer, and the big three were pretty poorly represented).

It makes for a good story and interesting talk. ;)
