View Full Version : Mini-14 Chamber Brush
I recently bought a cheap aluminum pistol cleaning rod (about 30cm long) and converted it to a Mini-14 chamber brush rod. It also can be used for the Mini-30.
This is what it looked like "before:"
I simply bent it (to about 100 degrees) with a pair of pliers to allow it to fit easily into my Mini's chamber (bolt still in place.) I had to be careful not to booger-up the very tip of the rod with my pliers, so that I could still thread a brush into the end. I screwed a 9mm brush into it, and cleaned away!
good idea, I have some extra aluminum cleaning rods I think I'll give it a try.

Good idea bwraven. Simple and cheap. I use a 3/8 wire bottle brush, and wrap a patch on the brush, the bristles hold it. Apply a little solvent and it really gets the chamber clean.
The chamber in semi-autos are often neglected because it is difficult to clean. It then becomes more important to clean the chamber as the semi-auto's ejector is weaker than that of a bolt action. Thanks for the Tip. ;)
BTW I hope you don't mind but I'm moving your tip to the Tips & Tricks section.
