View Full Version : 30 Rnd Pro Mag Poly Mini 14 Magazines
Hi Everyone -
I just purchased several Pro Mag Mini 14 30 rnd Polymer mags. Are they supposed to be loose and wobble back and forth when locked in the mag well?
Is this common to this type of magazines?
Help!

I just bought one at a gunshow last month and it fits really tight, its almost hard to get out. If it shoots ok in your gun I would not worry about it or try to get your money back they may have sold you the wrong mag. Does it have a big square block for the mag release to catch on?

The Promag polymers also seesaw in my rifles. I reported this in my review of these magazines. The rear rectangular lug is too short and the hole in the front of the magazine is punched too close to the top of the magazine in comparison to the factory and Thermold mags. Nevertheless, the mags do function reliably. Still, I wouldn't bet my life on them and I wouldn't use them as a monopod when firing from a prone position, as several carbine class instructors recommend.

RANGE REPORT:
Thanks to NOBODY for the informative review. You are correct. The 30 Rd Polymer magazine "seesaw" back and forth but seem to function perfectly.
After loading both magazines fully, went thru 200 rnds with no problem. No FTF or Jams. It fed fine what ever position the magazines were in.
All the other magazines I've tried locked up perfectly, whether they were Rugers, Black Warriors, USA, or PMI.
Has anyone else had this problem with the Promag Polymer 30 rnd Mags?
Thanks,
-Michael J
All of my ProMag Polymer 30's fit a bit loosely in all three of my Mini's.
I put another 150 rounds through each of them today, and they still function flawlessley. (About 600 rounds through each one, now.)
I had a Garand day, shooting only rifles based on the Garand design. (My M1 Garand, M1A SOCOM, and my Mini's.)
I was out doing some shooting today and notice the pro mag poly I bought broke off on the feed lips towards the front side. They broke about half way off, it still shot fine but I'll look for the metal from now on.

UPDATE 5/5/05
After 200 Rnds in each of the ProMag magazines, I have had no feeding problems, jams, or FTF. The magazines perform perfectly. They wobble, but do lock in and wiork. I spoke to Chris @ Promag, who was extremely helpful with the magazine wobble. He offered to replace the magazines if I wanted, or replace them at any time if I was unhappy. +1 for PROMAG!!!!!
So I'm happy now and will continue to use the magazines.
Thanks to all who replied.
Kind reguards,
