since its keeping the point from getting across, ignore the 'god in hell' bit.

the point I'm trying to make is that everyone seems to think that buying a sticker is the same thing as supporting the troops, and it's really starting to bug me. I'm not saying you should become an activist or whatever, but some basic things could possibly help: here's some ideas I've had:

-invest in kevlar (help reduce armor shortages)
-fundraisers or something similar to buy hummer armor kits and send them off to iraq and afghanistan
-offer to help train some of the ones here (the NRA helped a group of either army or marine marksmen a few months ago- sorry, I forget which, I'll check if anyone wants me to)

do you see what I mean? I could care less about god, he's not the important part here. I'm trying to point out how we can do more than just sit on our asses and leave it to someone else. for petes sake, a lot of you used to be in situations like the ones our boys and girls are in, and some of us (including myself) are going over there!

There are plenty of godless men in Washington to take my tax money and support our troops, the problem is when they talk about auditting the gov. on were the money goes. The men in black suits will look you up and send you on a vacation you'll never come back from. We don't need fund raisers, we need people to be held accountable for every DIME!!
Atheist don't meet together do they? I meet in a Baptist church of 1000 members or so, we support our troops and pres and pray for them all. Our preacher reads from the Bible and tells us how we should do more for the non believers and help them. That should be our witness and speaking kindly but the truth. Honest politians are as common as the toothfairy and santa clause!

interesting take on things. I agree we need to keep those @%#$&^ politicians accountable, but as of right now theres no way to do so. I agree that its messed up how any <unwanted> attention on the government earns you a permanent vacation. but pointing out what's wrong isn't the same thing as giving an idea for a solution: it's pointless bickering that nobody needs. we need ideas on how to fix this, not on what things should ideally be like: you don't have to be a christian to see that we live in a messed up world, everybody can see that.

that said, what do you guys think we should do? from what I can gather, you guys tend to be very informed on what soldiers need (and if theres any active duty soldiers here, for the love of god post what you need and whats in short supply), and your expertise is what is needed here. I've given my (limited) ideas, and you guys need to point out why they will/won't work and what we should do instead or in addition to.
