very nice - that scope almost reaches out and touches them - but ya all need to leave this coyote for "Prosperity" ..... I really had to choose on whether I wanted a Varminter or a shorter AR - I went with the Bushmaster XM15 E2S M4 in the short barrel. Now - looking back and only shooting at paper - I kinda wish I would of went with the Varminter..... you made a good choice. ;)

Thanks,Coyote! I really like the longer barrel. I think it helps you get the velocity up,a little higher. Some times it will help you out on those really long shots. I've never went Pairie Dog Hunting, but this year my friends are planning a trip to South Dakota. It should be fun. RD B)

Sweet machine. You'll like the dog hunt. What kind of scope is riding on top?

Sniper, it's a Sightron 6X24X40 mil-dot. I started using them about 3 years ago. They are really Nikons (Lincoln,Ford). Just diffrent lable. The nice thing is they are Top Drawer Quality, garenteed for ever. If one ever fails you just take it back to the dealer, and he will give you a new one. They never repair them, just replace them. They have also got the best tracking system I have ever used. You can shoot a square, and it will come back to zero. Here's thier web/ site RD B) http://www.sightron.com/

TC,The coyotes we hunt around here are (EDUCATED) Most CLOSE shots are in the 300yd range. We mainly hunt the praire(between Ill. and Indiana. There's a fence row then a MILE of open flat fields,to the next section. Some of the smarter one's will run out into the middle of the section, and lay down. Most shots are at running coyotes, and a semi is really handy for those second, third and forth shots. RD B)

With that Varminter, you really won't have to worry IF you can hit a coyote at 300 yds but WHERE you want to hit him! On his right eyebrow? Leftmost whisker on his chin? etc.

AR15_Fanatic, Your right! This rifle is turning out to be the most accurate rifle, I've ever owned, and I have some custom ones that shoot well. It amazes me how an auto rifle can be so accurate. I have quit shooting groups at 100yds. and now concentrating on 200yd groups. RD B)
