View Full Version : New SKS
I just bought a new unissued Yugo sks at a gun show for $163, including tax. Is that a good deal? Now I have to clean off the cosmoline.
I got one like it last year at a gun show for the same price. Did it come with a blue log book? They are a great weapon, but I would recommend leaving it with the stock 10 round mag. Stripper clips work great and it never fails to feed. Good luck! :D
No, it didn't come with any manual or books. Good thing there's one online. I had to use Birchwood Casey gun scrubber to get the grease off. It worked like a charm, really melted it.
I had another sks that I'm selling, and the 20 round mag makes it jam sometimes. I think I'll stick to 10 rounds, and just reload as quick as lightning with stripper clips B)

I'd say thats a good deal. They love to be shot, so stock up on a lot of ammo

You can save yourself some money if you like that stuff. Gub Scrubber is almost exactly the same thing as brake parts cleaner. Go to Advance Auto Parts and get a big can of their brand of brakes parts cleaner for $2. I've been using it for years, and it performs, looks, smells, and feels (kinda burns if it gets under a ring or something) exactly the same as the BC Gun Scrubber.
Well put Mr. Wizard. I use brake cleaner all the time. Never had any problems. Use it on metal only!!!! Oil the weapon afterwards and you're good to go. ;)
