I'm looking to buy a new rifle soon, and I am 99% sure it's going to be a Savage w/ Accutrigger, probably in 7mm Rem Mag. I have seen the package deals they offer with a scope, but I don't know about the quality of the scope/base/rings that comes with it. I know it's not going to come with a Leopold, but does anyone have any experience with these?
Thanks.

I looked around, but I haven't been able to find any information. You might want to give Savage a call. I'm sure they could tell you right off hand.

I have 2 Savage Package Rifles a Model 11G chambered for the .308 it came with a Simmons 3 x 9 x 40 scope synthetic stock and sling and swivels.I changed the sling on this one and it was ready to go.Ive got a Remington 700 BDL .308 and the Savage will shoot just as good.I came across Savage Model 13 22-250 Varmit Package with a synthetic stock Simmons 3 x 9 x 40 scope with target turret knobs.sling and plactic/polymer swivels, needless to say I changed the Swivels and sling.I bought the gun so I could leave my Ruger Model 77 MK II 22-250 at home dureing inclement weather and take the Savage.I still cant believe the accuracy of this gun out to 200 yrds it will shoot 2 inch groups with an ocasional flyer all day.Savage is by far not the best looking gun(However they have improved their looks with the Laminant and synthetic stocks) on the market but the are great shooters and very well built.HTH
Best!! :usa:

Thanks. What do you think of the quality of that Scope? Do you know which particular model Simmons scope that is? Also, what do you think of the synthetic stock? Is it comfortable to shoot with?

Well, I found out that the scope is a Simmons 8pt. It's an inexpensive scope, and I have read some complaints about it holding zero after transport. Also, I read some complaints about the eye relief not being big enough, and the scope can pop you in the eye if you are not careful. Might be something to worry about if I decide to go with a Magnum caliber. I'm rethinking the 7mm, and may go with the 338 Win Mag instead, so I need a scope that can withstand some punishment.

It was right in from of my face. The cover of a Savage pamphlet I have has the action showing along with the markings of a stainless Simmons scope. I would agree with it being an 8 point. I have one on my .270 Win. and it has been a pretty good scope. Until the Leupold fairy visits me!
The Savage packages are a good value even though the scope is a bargain level in the Simmons line up. Got to keep the cost down. The scope is supposed to be boresighted, but I have picked up more than a few that were canted horribly. Get it on straight before taking it out to the range. If you buy from a small dealer instead of the marts, you may make an offer to upgrade the scope and rings that will be attractive. It never hurts to ask. The Accu-trigger is a great product, and the synthetic stock is not as bad as many think. As with any gun under $1000 there will always be room for improvement, but that's half the fun. Good luck!
