The FN-49 is an Egytian model in 8mm Mauser, Its in good shape and a great shooter. If it had been produced a few years earlier it could have gave the M1 a run for its money.

I wanted to buy Homers FN-49 (In the For sale section), but he has not replied to me. Anyone know what happened to him???

Thanks Dakota it is a really nice rifle that I was lucky to find. I had read about it in Guns and Ammo surplus special edition and vowed to get one some day. Then I found it browsing a local gun shop and bought it on the spot.

Do you intend to do a whole lot of shooting with that gun or just keep it as a collector's item.

AR the FN-49 goes out to the range every third or fourth trip. Its great fun to shoot, and surplus 8mm is fairly cheap and its an accurate rifle as well. I buy bangers not hangers as a friend of mine once said. I believe their value has climbed since I got mine I paid $340 about 5 years ago.
