View Full Version : whats a good distance to zero a 22-250 in at
Hi all got a ? for anyone who can give me some advice. Ok some of my buddys tell me to sight in at 2 inches high at 100 yards but what I really was woundering if I sight in at 100 yards dead on what kind of drop will I see if I shoot at somethig at 200 yards? I was thinking that sighting at 200 yards dead on good idea or not? If I do sight in at 200 yards how much drop would I see at 300 to 400 yards? Thanks for everyones time.

Depends on how far you plan on shooting it. If 95% of your shots are within 200yds, it probably would be a good idea. But if you plan on ever taking 275+ yard shots, you'd have one hellova holdover. For most purposes, that'd be a good idea. 200 yards is all the range I'd give myself for 100% success from standing or kneeling (4" group). But if you are looking for the 300 to 400 yarder, You might want a longer zero.
Edit: Oh yeah, it should be about 3" low at 200 if you zero at 100 (I think).
2 inches high is fine for 100 yard sightin. This gives you a good zero up to 300 yards. If you are planning on varmint shooting, then you should most likely find out where your scope is zero'd at 100, 200, and 300 yards, dope it down in a notepad and keep it with your rifle or tape it on the stock for reference. Good shooting!
