Here are my 10-22s and my ruger family, you can watch it grow over time.

The top 10-22 was built from a Empire special Sporter:

Replaced factory Ruger Sporter Stock with factory laminated from target model.
Green Mountain Fluted SS barrel with recessed target crown
I installed a trigger kit which included: bushings, match grade springs, and used my stoning fixture on sear, polished all mating parts etc...approx 3 lbs.
Custom machined bolt handle and mag release handle.
VQ auto bolt release, and homemade recoil buffer.
Bushnell 3-9x32 scope - will change in the near future
VQ extractor installed

The second one down is a standard model
stainless steel barrel shroud
flash hider
BSA red dot
hand gaurd
buffer
auto bolt release
Will soon rework trigger

The laminated is probably my favorite next to the TNZ later in post.
Updated pic posted later in thread. 3-9x32 bushnell scope, buffer, VQ trigger kit...shoots like a dream.

The rest of the Ruger family is mini-14, single six, and GP100. See my bad Azz mini 30 in the mini 14 gallery.

The mini-14 can be seen in the mini gallery as well...

*** UPDATE: 11 March 2005 The synthetic 10-22 I bought from GB finally made it two days ago...pics of it are toward the end of the thread. ***

***UPDATE #2: I have pictures posted of my new 10-22 TNZ at the end of the thread.***

Here is the target from my first trip to the range with the top 10-22 with the heavy barrel. This is before the trigger job and buffer

Target was indoors, 25 yards, standing bench rest using remington target lead nose round bullets.

This was a 10 shot group...

Feedback??? Be nice though! ;)

This was the first target after I put the red dot on the standard 10-22. Once I got it on the paper, you can see where it was going. Finally hit my mark, and felt good considering a standard rifle with a cheap red dot. This was also using the remington target round nose lead bullets from a standing bench. Not the greatest conditions but I guess it is ok. The holes off to the left side are all from rapid fire, squeezing off what was left in a high cap mag. Enjoy Perfect Union friends!
I also must say...I am really getting into "tinkering" with these 10-22s. I have had two for about 7 years now, and never did anything to them; now I am fascinated! I just bought a synthetic SS from gunbroker with "gobs" of extras. I am thinking of building an HM2 out of it. :ar15:

Thanks Cajungeo...I am quite proud of my collection, but especially the rugers. In particular the 10-22 since I have been playing with them and working on them so much! It brings me great joy!

Number four finally arrived today, which I bought from gunbroker. I posted the link to the sell on GB a couple weeks back, showing how much stuff I purchased with it. I was going to use it for a HM2 project, but it is a little too scuffed, so I am going to wait and buy a new rifle for that project. This one I will just tinker with. The pics are really bad, as I think my camera took a crap. This is a standard syn ruger, the one with the inset buttstock with "ruger" stamped in it. It was standard with a stainless barrel depicted in the first pic. I bought it with a BC carbon fiber barrel (16 in), and installed it along with a bolt buffer...more to come later. Then I installed see through weaver rings and a 3-9x32 simmons scope, which also came with it. It doesn't look too bad, but I'll have to see how the CF barrel shoots. It seems flimsy, and it is nearly free floated...just need a little more tweaking. I have filed away an auto bolt release to install, but I don't have time tonight. I also bought a very nice, but inexpensive 3-12x44 AO lighted recticle scope, which came in the mail today too. It is very nice for the money. I plant to use it on the HM2 project, but I may stick it on this one to see what it looks like, or on my 10-22T project for the time being.

Congrats on your new 10/22 marksz71. You are 1 ahead of me now. Speaking of your camera having mechanical difficulties, my computer is now a boat anchor. I picked up this old IBM for $5. Had to work on it all week to get it up and running. Good luck on your new project.

BTW I merged your threads, as in the gallery we are limited to 1 per member. When you get new pics, you can use the edit button to replace your pics.

Thanks Cajungeo! I will remember that next time. Hopefully I can get a different camera soon, to replace the junker. I need to take the old camera to my dad's place on the farm, and blow it up! :ar15: Mark

Took this rifle to my Dad's farm this weekend as well and shot it for the first time. Once I got it sighted in...it shot beautifully. That little carbon barrel is soooo light and seems to shoot well. It doesn't get hot after cranking out 25 rapid fire rounds. I got the scope sighted in, and was knocking my resetting metal target around at nearly 50 yards one after the other quickly. From time to time, the first two to three rounds from a hi cap mag would not cycle properly, but after those it functioned and extracted great. It was a good buy, especially for what I paid for all of it... :D A few more minor mods and it will be complete. B) :sniper:

update....took it to the farm again this past weekend. Only used lead round nose, or winchester dyna points. Not one misfeed or misfire while using these shells. I gave those golden bullet rems to my son to shoot through is single shot! :D

Here are my 10-22s and my ruger family.

The top 10-22 is what I have been working most on.

Factory Ruger Sporter Stock
Green Mountain Fluted SS barrel with recessed target crown
I installed a trigger kit which included: bushings, match grade springs. Installed auto bolt release, and recoil buffer.
Bushnell 3-9x32 scope
Just ordered a VQ extractor

The second one down is a standard model
stainless steel barrel shroud
flash hider
BSA red dot
hand gaurd
buffer
auto bolt release
Will soon install trigger kit

The laminated is all factory
I just ordered a 3-9x32 bushnell scope like the one on my target rifle...still waiting for new mounts. Buffer is installed and I will install trigger kit later. I want to leave this one mostly stock, especially on the outside.

The rest of the family is mini-14, single six, and GP100

The mini-14 is pretty much all stock, but am working on accurizing it without changing the stock. Just received a flash hider in the mail as I was typing...my son brought it in to me.

I will post target pics in a bit.

Finally pictures of my new toy...the apparently rare 10-22 TNZ. I bought it at a local gun show new in the box. And the research I have been able to find on it, would suggest I got a decent price on it as well. In the 10-22 talk area I posted a couple of links to information about this rifle. So far I have installed a buffer, and a 3-12x44 AO lighted recticle scope with sun shade. I think the rifle looks beautiful, but you all be the judge. My intentions are to get it to the range this weekend. Here she is... B)

Went to the range today for the first time with the TNZ. For an out of the box rifle, it is very impressive. I must say...the trigger was beautiful! I must have that trigger on my other 10-22s. No creep, and a three pound crisp pull. I was indoors, on a 25 yard lane, using a standing bench rest. Certainly not locked down, but I did my best to hold it still. When I finally got the scope zeroed, and had some fun practicing, I fired twenty rounds into the last target. Ten rounds in the center, and then I tried to "take out" the numbers. At this point, unfortunately the stabilizer rope fell off down range and the target was swaying. :( That really irritated me! <_< I decided to shoot anyway, and the following target is what developed. Not bad, but with better conditions it could have been even better. I still think I need to take the barrel channel down just a touch more, but I am nearly there at this point. Overall I am very pleased with the performance and handling of this rifle. It is very comfortable to shoot, and functions flawlessly. :D

Finally, I have received all necessary parts, and I started my .17 mach 2 conversion today!!!!! :D I got that last two peices for Christmas...my wife is awesome...and I am so spoiled...she bought the eabco SS barrel and over sized handle, as well as the BSA mach II scope. I purchased a BC soft grip stock, VQ trigger, titanium exact edge extractor, comp hammer, bolt buffer, and I am currently waiting for the JB weld to cure on the pretravel mod as I type...so I am basically done until tomorrow! I am hoping for about a 2.5 lbs trigger. I also did the auto bolt release mod, and plan to buy a bipod by the weekend. I took a few pics along the way for your viewing pleasure, and I will post the final pics when the rifle is finished. I hope everyone had as great of a Christmas as I did. I may be spoiled, but Christmas is about family, and the birth of our savior. Take care! Mark

Nearly finished now....the trigger is beautiful! Zero pretravel, Zero over travel, very crisp break at rougly 2.5-3 lbs. Every thing works wonderfully so far. I couldn't mount the scope as the rings I inteneded to use were just a hair too low for the scope. Heading to Wally world this afternoon. I can wait to get it to the range, and then the farm this weekend.

Ta da!!! It is finished...I went to Bass Pro and Walmart tonight to get ammo and the bipod. I may be bias, but I think it turned out well, and I am proud of my work..especially the awesome trigger job. I will take it to the range tomorrow to see how it shoots. Wish me luck. More pics to follow. I will also try to do a range report as soon as I get back. :D Mark

Here is a picture of my 10-22 Race Rifle, which I have never posted before...only talked about. The only thing I have done is installed a buffer, and scope. The scope is 4-15x50 AO lighted recticle. I am about to replace it...I think it is junk. Overall I am very satisfied with this rifle. I shot 5 shot groups at 25 yards that I could easily cover with a dime. Other than that; I haven't shot it much... Mark

Here is the laminated version in the very first post with pics. At the time I couldn't find the scope rings I wanted, so the rifle sat for a while. Now it is finished. Buffer, auto bolt release mod, bushnell scope with see through millet rings, and VQ trigger pack installed by myself. The trigger is around 2.25 lbs...much cleaner and crisper than factory with very little pretravel. It shoots extremely well...;) Mark

The first pic is of the project that I start a couple years ago, using a Walmart sporter SS. I recently wanted to change the stock and bought a factory 10-22T stock, and I think it looks really nice...MHO. I am thinking of other stocks, but haven't bought one yet. You'll also notice that I had the bolt jewelled as well... After frustration on the trigger job set it...I bought a 10-22 T trigger assembly and installed it. It shoots great...Pics on the first page of this thread show 10 shots inside a dime at 25 yards.

I got the scope I asked for on my Birthday. I got a truglo 6-24x44 AO...it is a very nice scope, but it is hard to tell until I actually use it while shooting. The glass is very clear and crisp, and it has a VERY small mil dot....It is not as heavy as my other varmint scopes either.

I also have another 10-22 on its way...I bought it off gunbroker...gray laminate with black receiver and SS barrel. It came with a scope and 50 round tear drop drum mag. I got a pretty fair deal on it....I will post when I get it....

I bought this 10-22 from gunbroker with scope and mitchell tear drop 50 round drum...I must say, the drum works very well to my suprise. This rifle originally had a gray/black lam stock when I bought it a few weeks ago. Then I found on fleabay...a stock that was advertised as "factory 10-22 plywood stock". I have only seen one other stock like this, but it is not plywood. It is a blonde laminated stock, and as I mentioned...I have only seen one other. Does anyone know if it was a limited run...are there many out there? Unforunately, I don't have the serialed rifle that came with it, but...since I already had a gray laminated stock 10-22, and since I have only seen one other blonde lam...I bought the stock. I thought this would be a good addition to my collection. I also have modifed the trigger group with a VQ hammer, hammer spring, shimms, and trigger return spring...VERY nice trigger! I also installed a bell and carlson ext mag release and of course; a recoil buffer. In addition, I polished the bolt for a better finished look. I plan to cut the front sight off and crown the barrel for a clean tapered look, then coat the entire barrel, trigger and receiver assembly with a solid color...probably a med to dark gray, or semi flat black. If it doesn't look right with the laminated stock...I will put the original gray/black lam back on. This rifle shoots VERY well...although...all my 10-22s do.... :D . Take care all...happy shooting! I finally got this rifle out to shoot....it shoots awesome! The scope is very nice, and I didn't have a bad time getting it zeroed. It may need some more tweaking, but very tight groups at 25 yards which is where I have it at the moment. When I get more time when I return from my deployment; I will get some longer shots in. For some reason...this rifle shoot very quietly...

Here is the new 10-22 that I just got; it makes number 11. I know I am crazy, but there are so many, and I like to collect them. I don't plan to do anything but basically put a scope on it, and maybe a VQ trigger kit, buffer, etc. But not even sure if I will do that since I don't want to ruin the originality of the rifle. The rifle was new in the box, and unfired.
This may be one of my last posts for a few months, and I certainly won't be buying a rifle for a while. I am heading to a hot, sanding place accross the big pond in about three weeks. Wish me luck, keep me and other service members in your thoughts and prayers, and keep up the good work in the forum! Happy shooting! Mark

Hello folks...during my last week in the sandbox; I found this rifle on gunbroker. It had no reserve, and I placed a low bid...low and behold; I won the auction for much less than my bid. The rifle is in great condition, used however, but great. I took it apart yesterday, and it didn't appear to have been shot much, and there are very few minor blemishes in the stock and barrel. It has a light trigger pull; almost like it has a target trigger installed. I cleaned it, inserted a bolt buffer, and installed an auto bolt release. I will likely put a scope on it soon, but otherwise...it will remain just like it is. Happy shooting! Mark

I updated the blonde stock 10-22. I install Hogue over molded stock, and a 16 inch GM fluted SS target barrel. I topped it with a simmons 4-12x44 AO scope. This little rifle handles great and it very well balanced.

I found an original limited production 10-22 with the blonde lam stock, so the serials actually match for that variation. I may sell it, but not sure yet. I haven't shot this little short target model, but I have high hopes for it. Happy shooting everyone...Mark
