I recently purchased a Savage chambered in .204 Ruger.... Let me tell you this rifle is SWEET...I stuck a b-square bipod on it, and used an 8-32X44 BSA platinum target scope with Mil Dot reticle for the optics.

I LOVE the accutrigger, and the action is smooth as silk!

Shooting this rifle is a dream... The 32G. Hornady cartridges will group from .5" to 1" at 100M depending on whether I can hold still enough, and squeeze one off in between heartbeats... LOL yeah, its that touchy...and I am only using the bipod for shooting... I figure I am NOT going to have a bunch of snadbags out when in the field, so my target shooting will need to accurately represent my in field technique.

Although, it doesnt like the 40G. Remington ammo... as this will yield 1.5" to 2" groups at 100M. Ah well... so its finicky... LOL

I would recommend ANY of this line of savages in any chambering to anyone out there looking to buy a new one... they are TRULY a beautiful rifle all around...

My Dad has been considering a .204 Ruger. I better not show him this thread, it might push him over the edge! Nice rifle.

do you have a hard time finding ammo? or do you get it off the internet

Ammo is so far plentiful at places like bass pro shops and gander mountain...

Prices range from 12-15 bux a box of 20... so its quite reasonable...

the ammo I have seen online isnt much cheaper, so theres no point to pay shipping and hazmat fees when I can drive 15 minutes and buy it....

Thanks for the comments.. I am glad you like it...

if anyone is interested in a new bolt action in this caliber.. I would rate the savage at 4 and 3/4 stars out of 5!!!!

( only cause it only has a 4 round magazine... ( but will hold 6...) ) and mine tends to SPIT OUT the number 3 shell all the time... dont ask me why... savage sent me a NEW spring and mag follower... I have yet to put it in.. and see if that fixes it...

they told me that since I put 6 in... it compressed the spring too much... <shrug> maybe... maybe not... dunno... other than that, this rifle is FLAWLESS!

Nice rifle Indy! That .204 Ruger sounds like a sweet cartridge! Speed, range, and accuracy minus the accelerated barrel erosion you'd get with other hyper-velocity rounds. Man, I gotta git me wunna those... :D

dont forget....

*ZERO* recoil....

honestly... you could shoot this rifle ALL DAY LONG... it does not kick... its SO heavy... just absorbs all the recoil... its like shooting a 22 LR...
honest!!!
