My question is to all of you who have or have had an SKS: How big of a sin would it be for me to change the stock (or any part) on my very excellent condition Russian SKS? It is all original 1954 Tula arsenal, never remanufactured. Here she is: http://www.perfectunion.com/forums/index.p...showtopic=12467 (http://www.perfectunion.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=12467)

One thing about changing the stock is it keeps it in good shape. No more dings and dents. The next question should be which stock will be it's replacement?

Im sure it already crossed your mind, but why not simply pick up another SKS, a Yugo or a Narrinco, and change that one around leaving the Russian as is? Whats that old saying? "Why only buy one when you can have two at twice the cost?" :)

Yeah, I'm saving for one now. Got about $50 for it so far. Anyone wanna make a charitable contribution to the "Johnny needs a new SKS fund?" You can send money to my paypal account jwellis79@charter.net

It's your gun do what you want with it. As long as it makes you happy that is all that matters. Scott

I would never antagonize someone for swapping parts on a collectable firearm to enhance the fit, feel, or function. However, one thing collectors look down on is mutilated original parts. Sure, swap that stock, sights, or magazine to make it fit like it was personally made for you... just keep those original parts in case that rifle becomes trading stock or someone makes you an offer you can't refuse.
