My senior year in high school football we had a new coach that encouraged us to pray at the end of every game and ask the other team to join, we always prayed the Lords prayer. We made it to the 2nd round of the state playoffs which had not been done in 30 years, it was very exciting as we swept all the conference games. That was 17 yrs ago, the coach moved on the next year and we never made it to state till this year. I was watching my nephew play this year under a new coach and one that encouraged the kids to pray the Lords prayer. They made it to the first round of the playoffs. It was awesome and fun to watch.

‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10your kingdom come, your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven. 11Give us today our daily bread. 12Forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.[a]’

That's awesome Tri! It's good to know there's still people in the school system who love the Lord! :usa:

There is definite power in prayer. I think the Lord's prayer is great and I think of it often, however I think that a team prayer should be more direct in expressing gratitude to the Lord for the opportunity to play together, to compete and to directly ask the Lord to bless each member to play to their best abilities and then some. Every team should always start with prayer. Its a great way to focus on the event and to put forth the faith that the Lord will bless the team collectively and the individual specifically.
