View Full Version : HOORAY, IT's TWINS!
Hi All,
I am so happy. I now have TWIN Ruger 10/22's.
The first one I purchased back in November 2004, on the 4th.
The second one I just purchased a couple of days ago. On February FOURTH! Three months to the day of my first one!
Coincidence, or fate? YOU decide!
I know everyone knows what the 10/22 looks like, but here is a picture of the TWINS!

The TWINS are doing well.
Recently added another family member. A stainless 'Evil Empire Special' 10/22.

Well....let's see it! I am intrigued to see what it is... ;)
Hi there,
Ok here is the newest member of the family.
It is 10/22 with at 22 inch stainless barrel, checkered hardwood stock. Great shooter.
I got it at Wal-Mart, hence the name 'Evil Empire Special'. It is exclusive to The Empire. Can't get it anywhere else.
Since this picture was taken I have installed a Volquartsen Target Hammer, Bolt Buffer, VQ Exact Edge Extractor. I have also installed a Bushnell 3-9x32 rimfire scope on it.

Good Shooting!
Nice lookin' set of Rugers you have there.

OHHHHH...I get it "evil empire" I have one of those as well. I put a heavy barrel, scope, and some of the same mods you put on yours, which can be seen here... http://www.perfectunion.com/forums/index.p...showtopic=14164 (http://www.perfectunion.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=14164) Do you have any modification plans for these rifles?

So now you’re up with me. 3 - 10/22's so far. I made one for target, one for silhouette target, and the other is a folder for hunting and plinking. May have to get 1 more when I convert to a 17 Mach 2.
Hi Guys,
Thanks for the compliments on my RUGER 10/22 family.
Ah HA, I'm neck and neck with CAJUNGEO with 3 10/22s apiece! It's an addiction, isn't it?
For now, the only mods I am doing are the ones that I have already done on the "Evil Empire Special". I did put recoil buffers in my Carbines, but that is all I am going to do on those. At least for now.
I took the 'EES' out to the range yesterday to sight in the scope. It shoots very well at 50 yards. I did not measure the groups, but they were pretty tight.
I used CCI MINI MAGS first, then a box of WOLF MT ammo. Man, what a difference between the two! Like night and day in accuracy, and POI. The MAGS shot high, while the WOLF ammo shot low at the same Scope setting. I was amazed.
I do like the WOLF ammo better, but it is so expensive (which is no big deal), and it is VERY greasy stuff! It's like its factory coated in Vaseline, or something. It gummed up my magazine, my fingers, and the action of the rifle. It did not cause any failures or anything detrimental, just GREASY stuff!
Good Shooting!

Aren't the mini mags higher velocity? That may be why they shoot high at 50 yards; are they still climbing at that distance? The Match ammo, I understand is not high velocity, maybe that is why they don't shoot as high as the mini mags. Any experts with an answer, or better info than I can provide?

Yes the Mini mags are hi-velocity, whereas the wolf is std velocity, about 250 fps diff. There is also hyper velocity, such as Velocitors, and stingers. On the other end are the sub-sonics.
To answer your question about the CCI's at 50 yds. A 22 rim fire is out of gas before it leaves your barrel. Std Velocity reaches maxium velocity at 16" of barrel travel. It basicly coasts out of your barrel, and drops from there.
I'm up TO FIVE 10/22s now.
And counting.
Good Shooting!
Come on Buddy, show us some pics. Don't worry, we won't think you're obsessed. ;)
And since this thread has been revived, I've got a couple of questions. What kind of mags are those in the first picture of your twins. Also, do they work reliably?
Quintuplet Man, wow!

HI RUGMAR,
Those two magazines are BUTLER CREEK HOT LIPS 25 rounders.
They are very good magazines, and work very well. They are quite reliable after a 100 to 200 round 'break in' period.
I have thousands of rounds through those to date, and they are still work great. I have worn one out in the past though, but it took LOTS of use, and many thousands of rounds. They have polymer (plastic) feed lips so they do wear over time and use.
I like the BUTLER CREEK STEEL LIPS magazines better. They are basically the same magazine, but with stainless steel feed lips. They last MUCH longer.
Obsessed? Who me? With the 10/22? No, no. Not me.
Ok here's another pic of one of my others.
This one is a 40th anniversary edition Carbine. Very pretty.

Do you know if they make the steel lips in anything other than 10 rd. If so, where do you get them? I like the smoke colored ones best but haven't seen anything but 10 rd clear in the steel lips.
Hi RUGMAR,
Yes, the STEEL LIPS also come in the 25 round variety.
I like the high capacity of them.
I buy mine locally, but I am sure you can get them online somewhere.
They run around $29.00 locally. Not a bad price. They are quality magazines.
Now I'm just waiting for the next sale on 10/22s at BI-MART so I can pick up my SIXTH one.
Good Shooting!
Ok thats great news. I'll search around online to see what I can find.
I saw a 10/22 blued carbine at wal-mart tonight for 179. Is that about what they go for where you live?
I do not set foot in Wal-Mart.
My 'E.E.S.' was the last purchase I made there, and I will never go back.
I usually get all my shooting related things at a department store called BI-MART. It is a regionally owned company here in the Northwest.
Their regular price on a standard blued Carbine is $169.00, which is a pretty good price.
I always wait for their sale though. They have a big sporting goods sale at least 4 times a year. During these sales the standard blued Carbine goes for $139.00! Now THAT is cheap, and that is when I go for another one!
They are about due for a sale here in another month or so, since hunting season is coming.
Good Shooting!
