I squeezed this one in at lunch. Hopefully on Sunday I will have more time and can try again. Hopefully... Working from 9-12, funeral at 4:00 PM, and the Super Bowl! Well, I will try to get my priorities straight.

ps My printer is out of blank ink, so that is why the target is purplish. You might want to print one and get copies made.

Mrcosmos that is one double tuff target!!! I got a little range time in today also. There is one thing I don't understand, I thought if any bullit touched the black on any one of the squares it disqualified the whole target? That's why I don't have one to post, course I only printed up two to take with me, they can use a bunch of ink quick. I tried putting my printer on draft quality which did not use quite as much but I think getting copies made may be the best way to go. Anyway I got dialed in where I was putting them in the 10 ring on a standard smallbore target. Then I set up the Black Death Challenge and while I was letting the barrel cool down and piddeling around the wind changed........ bad. I get into these two targets and got blown out right off, made me so damn mad I loaded up a 30rnd. mag and tore both of 'em up, good. :ar15:

I understand it the same way Rutro. It looks like mrcosmos put 4 hits on the 5/8 target which scores a 28. The 1/2 target didn't count.

Mrcosmos, ya just had to go and discourage me before I got started! ;)

That's a mighty fine target. I'm not so sure my eyes will even be able to distinguish the smaller bulls at 25 yards.

Well on mrcosmos rules post I shot my big mouth off saying that for a match barrel with target scope the 1/2" target is no challenge @ 25 yds. and I was going to shoot it at 50 yds. Maybe I should have tried it first before putting my foot in my mouth. :(

Good shooten mrcosmos.

What really burns me is that while practicing on Jan. 31st (after I posted the Feb Challenge) I shot a 42. Now every time I go for the 1/2 bull I either hit the black on the first shot or on the second shot if I get greedy and go for 2.

Cajun, from what I have seen you are a much better shooter than I am! It could be 50 would be more of a challenge for you. I tried it at 50 and I think I scored an 11 so I moved down to 25 to hopefully improve and boost my confidence a little!

Cajun,
Any idea when the edit function will be back? If everybody has to post a new pic everytime they shoot a better target alot of space could be taken up on the server. If it is going to be awhile, maybe we should all wait until the end of the month and then everybody could upload a picture of it.

I guess I am totally confused - - I though the idea of the Black Death Challenge was to try and shoot the little black dot - once - in each of the squares. The highest score you could get hitting all the dots - would of been 26 points?

Guess I need to read the rules :(

Never mind - just down loaded the rules - geessss - I was making it harder than it should be. I kept throwing away the targets or starting over - when I missed that black dot -- duuuuu - I just thought the point was to shoot the little black dot....

Do the same thing, but just hit the little dot in the 1/2"one 5 times, and don't shoot @ the others. haha

That sure looks like a hard one @ 25yds. with iron sights, but I hope to try it.

I was hoping to shoot today, but it is snowing and blowing so hard that I couldn't hardly see 50 yards. So far we have eight inches and it is still coming.

Its been a long time since I saw snow. It was a pleasent 75 here today.

Oh, it was a balmy 26 here, I just couldn't see anything. One of my employees said he heard on the news we got 14 inches, but they must have been using a funny ruler. I think it was more like 10. Tried to shoot one at lunch today, but I experienced some technical difficulties. Per the info I read at another forum, I pounded a bb into my bolt to "pin" the firing pin. Unfortunately, it was causing the bolt to stick.

Has anyone else tried this target with iron sights at 25yds. I can hardly even see the black squares,it was so bad that I drove my 4 wheeler to the deer stand and got my glasses.[I hate glasses, and only wear them to see when hunting] After that I could make out the squares somewhat. The front sight covered everything. Since scoped customs are shooting @ 25yds what distance should open iron sights & stock barrel shoot at?????

There is no way I would try to shoot this one with open sights. It didn't take me long after buying my 10/22 to decide to go with a scope. At 25 the front sight seemed to cover the whole target. What distance do you think would be ok for open sights?

I am not sure either. If the weather gets better I think I am going to try 10 or 15 yds to see if that works. I will let you know. [might be these 61yr old eyes]

I shot two targets today and received the black death both times. :( At 50 yards, I couldn't even tell I had hit the black and still thought I had a viable score. I will try at lunch tomorrow, but may have to settle for 5 pts just to get on the board. Man that target is hard at 50 yards!

Man I can't wait to shoot. The mandatory overtime is over, so if it isn't raining this next week end I'll give it a try.
