Picked up my CZ 75 Compact .40 this evening. Since I won't be able to get to the range until Friday, I thought I'd leave my first impressions here.

1) As always with a new CZ, oil, oil everywhere. :)

2) Noticeably heavier than the CZ P-01 or CZ 40P which is to be expected with the steel frame. Don't have a scale, but my guess is that the empty Compact weighs about the same as a P-01 fully loaded (14+1).

3) Will fit in the HBE belt holster I have for the P-01, but not when cocked and locked.

4) Haven't made up my mind about the flat, metal baseplate on the mags yet.

5) Just realized: this one came with no snap caps.

6) Trigger just a bit gritty. I'm sure it will smooth out with use, like just about every other CZ I've owned.

Just waiting for Friday.

Abbreviated range report: It's abbreviated because it was so %$# cold in The Powder Room in Powell, OH last Friday that I didn't stay very long. However, I did put about 70 rounds through the compact and functioning was flawless. I, on the other had, wasn't functioning flawlessly. I was pushing everything just a bit right of center with the Compact .40 and with the 40P I brought along as my benchmark. Since I'm usually dead on with the 40P, I'll assume it just wasn't my day and won't blame either gun.

Recoil was quite mild with the Compact .40, which again I'll attribute to the additional weight.

I'm ready for Spring!
