My dad is looking for a new 9mm . He has a Springfield Armory 1911 a1 and really likes it. I have seen alot of articles in the gun mags about the XDs , but prefer to hear opinions from actual owners.
If you have one , how well do you like them?
Have you had any problems with it?
How many rounds have you fired through it?
I apreciate any and all opinions.

Taught a class where a new shooter borught one in (9mm). The gun was accurate and performed top notch. Wouldn't bother me to own one.

I don't own one, but have shot one. One of the guys in my office owns one and let me fire a couple of magazines during our last "office day at the range" trip. It shot well and I thoroughly enjoyed it. As far as I know, he's never had any problems with his, and I am considering it for my next 9-mm (to keep my CZ-75 company).

I do not yet own one, but have been on the waiting list for six months for a 5" XD-9. The distributors do not have them yet, and they've been on the Springfield website for quite a long time now. I'll give them one more month, and I'm going with a Glock 17.

Thanks for the replies, so far I have not heard anything negative about them.
Loco, let us know if you ever get that 5 inch model, thats the one I would get if I was getting one.

I used to own a 4in model. The reason behind why I dont have it anymore was not my decision. Very accurate gun and the price was right on the money also. I am currently on the market for a new one now.

Hey KSRUGERFAN!

I first shot an XD9 Service Model about a year ago. It was a rental gun at a local range. I shot about 40 rds just to get the feel of the gun. I then put a silhoutte target down to the 25 yd mark and shot 5 rds at the head, standing unsupported. Checking the target, I put the 5 into 1 1/4" in the center of the head. The rest is history. I now shoot an XD40 Tactical Model, and it's the best handgun I've ever owned. I've shot and owned lots of revolvers and semi's in different calibers, but none more comfortable and easy to shoot than the XD. The grip angle, passive safetys, true ambidexterious mag release, and round and cocking indicators, make it one of the most ergonomically perfect handguns IMHO. Go out and shoot one and you'll see what I mean, and then look at the price ($450- $500). It's a lot of gun for the $.

I've owned an9mm XD for about a year now. I haven't had any problems at all with the gun. Shoots accurate and reliably. It also has a great fit in the hand which was one of the reasons I purchased it. I just shot a Glock the other day, I like the XD much more.

Cool, didn't know about that. FWIW: I got one of the XD "lunchkit specials" with 3 mags and the holster about 2 weeks ago. Haven't gotten a chance to shoot it yet, but it looks nice on the desk

I had a xd357 2 years ago and I loved it..shot like a champion..no FTF or anything. Put over a thousand rounds thru it in a short time...but things happned and I need to get rid of it. In January I picked up a Ruger P345 and I love it..I have had No probs with it like what has been posted on the internet..I've put 600 rounds since I got it in jan 2005. Yesterday I went to the local gun store because I got an ich for the xd again and ended up buying the XD9 LunchBox Special..haven't shot it yet..but looking forward to it. Just ordered the thumb rest adaptor for it (mickey mouse ears). Bout to order the new guiderod/spring combo and the rubber slip on grips with finger grooves. So needless to say I got bit by the XD bug again.

sorry for the long post.

I bought the XD9 5in Tactical and I think it is the most accurate center fire handgun that I have ever fired. However the coating on the slide, whatever it is, is prone to receiving blemishes.
