Here's a few of my original Factory 26 paratrooper with threaded barrel. Bayo was gone when purchased, but will be replacing it soon. This one is has two cousins in the cabinet with it. A Norinco commercial with pinned barrel, and a Yugo 59/66.

and the last one, showing the threaded barrel. This is the only paratrooper I've seen that had the threaded barrel.

I thought it was illegal to have a bayo on a Chinese SKS?

You're probably right, but I didn't say I was going to "attach it to the rifle" ;) Just to have on hand when the legislators learn how to remove their head from their "other end".
I'm curious about that law regarding the Chinese rifles and none of the other SKS's. I tend to think that the bayonet is the ONLY "evil" feature of an original unmodified SKS.

That's what I thought when I bought my 1966 milled chicom from an FFL at the last gunshow I went to, bayonet attached.

Your paratrooper is lookin sharp.

From what I've read over at the SKSboards it's not only the bayonet thats illegal (When installed) on the Chinese SKS, but the bayonet lug also needs to be ground off per some Clinton law that made only the Chinese version verboten. Altough there are some sksboards members who've bought their Chinese with the bayonet mounted, and they are etheir going to play stupid or made sure the bill of sale said something like "Chinese SKS with bayonet" . I don't Think the BATF will be dragging you off if they see it, but don't take my word for it. They may be worried about drive by bayonettings.

As for your SKS it looks great. :D

I have never heard of such a law. My norinco I bought last month has one mounted. Are you talking about the peoples republic of california?

Thanks for the compliments guys. Let's me know I did indeed get a deal on the rifle. Here's a better pic showing the collar of the threaded barrel. Dontcha just hate cleaning rags that leave fuzzies on your toys?

Here's a pic of the only flaw that I can see that needs attention. I have no idea what could have caused this cancerous looking thing on the wood just below the bolt on the right side.

OH! I thought you meant the end of the barrel is threaded. Like for a brake or something

Not just California. Below taken from the SKSboards History & Info

Unfortunately, the 'golden age' of the cheap SKS came to an end. Anti-gun zealots abhor semiautomatics, military guns, and inexpensive guns. The SKS is all of the above, and their popularity among the working class alarmed those who prefer an unarmed populace. Through their minion, Bill Clinton, a trade agreement was reached that banned import of guns and ammo from China. The BATF also ruled that bayonets on Chinese SKSs were verboten – if you have one on your Chinese SKS it needs to be removed to be legal. They also banned 7.62x39mm ‘Armor Piercing' (steel core) ammo. Nevertheless, imported surplus Russian SKSs and ammo took up the slack for a while, albeit at a higher cost. Next, Clinton signed a similar agreement with Russia and ended the import of those SKSs. Hollow and soft point and FMJ (from certain countries) ammo still continues to be allowed in, but there will be no more SKSs from China or Russia for the foreseeable future. Fortunately for us, surplus 1957 to 1960 vintage Romanian SKS's have been imported as of late, followed by the current surplus Yugoslavian Model

Now as for grinding the lug off I've never read any concrete proof that the lug needs to be removed. I've just read rumors so untill someone can find documentation from BATF which says it need to be removed, I'll dismiss it as internet rumor. .

Well, if you ditch the bayo, I'd get a bipod. They make bipods to fit the bayo lug on the SKS.
