Heya all,

Im looking at getting a .22 pistol to add to my collection. I was wondering if anybody has any info on the P22 from Walther aside from whats on their site? Anybody have one of these, or fired one? Any terrible problems that I should know about before purchasing one? Any info is apprechiated, Im just looking to get a pistol thats cheaper to shoot than my mil spec springfield 1911.

Thanks!

I've only fired one w/ a suppressor on it. it functioned flawlessly w/ the can and was a blast to shoot.

in your hand feels like a real gun (not like a lot of 22 pistols) and shot accurately enough at 10 or so yards.

I've thought about picking one up, but once I had it I know I'd have to buy a suppressor for it and I'm not ready to dedicate that much to a 22 pistol right now.

Over all I think it's a nice gun.

Good luck,

Ben

I've heard problems about them jamming but I've never shot one before. Even if it does jam once or twice every 200 rounds, then that doesn't bother me. It's probably mostly associated with the ammo. I get my 22/45 short stroking sometimes and I figure it's from unpowdered loads. I"ll never carry it for defensive purposes so reliably isn't a big concern to me unless it's doing it every other round.

I will in the next year be adding a p22 to my collection. I love .22lr. I got 1000 rounds yesterday for <$20. How can you beat that?

I was thinking about getting one but checked out several other gunsites and it was not popular. It had all kinds of problems with barrels coming lose and jamming. It was enough to scarte me away. I do not need to spend money on a problem, and the last thing I want is to find out just how good their warrentee service is. Now it was the S&W version that most of the comments were about. I bought a Ruger MKII.

A friend has one and it is a winner. I have a mark II standard and the p22 is the next on my list.

I own one and shoot it almost weekly. Two of my friends also have them. None of us have even had a jam or a mis-fire. Everything has functioned perfectly and I love that little .22. I wouldn't bet my life on it since it's only a .22, but it is an awesome little gun. I have shot both the 3.5" barrel that a friend of mine has and the 5" barrel version that I own. The only problem I have discovered in 6 months is that the compensator on the barrel can come loose after shooting for an extended period. The front sight is on the end of the compensator, so your sight can move if the compensator gets loose. The easies alternative is to move the front sight back to the front of the slide where it is mounted on the 3.5" barreled version.

Hope that helps... I love mine.

Well, early this week my friend bought one and fired a brick through it at the local range. Fucntioned flawlessly. It's a fun gun to shoot and I really like the stock sights on it. It's definately on my list of guns that I want to get.

It makes me want to get the shorter tactical solution barrel for my 22/45 now.

I had some issues with my P22 shooting some Federal Game-Shok ammo, every few rounds I'd have a problem feed failures. Bought 1000 rounds of CCI MiniMags online after reading a bunch of reviews on the P22, took it to the range today.

200 rounds of CCI MiniMags, no feed failures, no FTF, no jams.
20 rounds of CCI Subsonic, no feed failures, no FTF, no jams.
10 rounds of CCI shotshell, not powerful enough to cycle the slide, but funny to see the target when it was done.

So, CCI Mini-mags, are powerful enough to do the trick.

I bought one and never was able to make it go bang! I tried several types of ammo, and not once did it work! It got sent back to the manufacturer twice and upon its return, I was told that it was now working by the new owner - a friend whose son really liked the fit to his hand. I will NEVER get another one! I will stick to the Ruger's that have fired first time every time!

i bought one of these a little while ago..
my second trip to the range was awful..
several failures to feed and then the hammer spring broke.
i sent it back, they fixed and since then it has functioned nicely.
ive found that you have to really keep you arm stiff to allow this little gun to cycle properly and the better ammo helps it as well..

all in all i like it.. fun little gun to shoot

I like mine alot, but you must use coated ammo. bare lead seems to jam now and then.

I think that it is a sharp design for a pistol. I was worried after I purchased mine and began reading the problem feedback from other users. As I read more, most of the problems centered around the ammo and the magazines. Better quality ammo and 3rd generation magazines solve a large portion of those problems.

The "compensator" mentioned above requires a good set and locktite. That, I would say, is the main weakness in the design. Most users tend to stick with the 3.5 barrel to circumvent this issue. The barrel nut also comes loose after much firing which lends to the problem with the 5 inch barrel attached and also affects the 3.5...but again, a dab of red locktite solves this.

I was worried that I was going to have a real problem gun. As it turns out mine fires excellently and I have had no ftf/fte's to date. I am on about 1000 rounds and I love mine. I have a later model Gray pistol and I am more than happy with it. It came with both barrels, 2 different size grips, a few little tools, two mags, 3 different pop-in sights and a sharp little case with cut-outs.

There is a whole group of people that love them and they have all the little fixes for the pistol. Their group reminded me of this group of Mini lovers. I also have and like the laser sight designed to match the pistols design. It works VERY WELL. I am ready to go shoot mine right now.
