If you want a Sling Swivel Stud in your forestock of your Hogue or other hollow synthetic stocks, this mod is easy to do. You can use this stud so bi-pods can be quickly added without having to buy the expensive "bi-pod adapter" or to add a sling or both. The gas block mounted sling swivel is no longer needed. I removed mine.

1. Clear weapon of ammo, disassemble and remove stock, and "Forearm Liner and Stock Cap assembly".

2. Next Mark and drill a 3/16" hole, approx. 2 1/2 inches aft of the gas block. I put it here (a) it fit well there giving me room to shoot offhand, (b) and room inside, between of stock & liner, and in-between channel walls.
Note: I drilled from outside inward to avoid de-lamination the rubber coating.

3. Next install an Uncle Mikes Machine screw sling stud. ( Had to dig up a thin 8-32 nut, as the fancy knurled one that came with the stud was too thick) and saw or grind off the extra threads on the stud. (Better to have nut screwed on before sawing as end thread gets gnarled, and is easier to take off than put on).
Tip: I added a drop of Locktite Blue to avoid the nut from vibrating loose.

So when finished it is rock solid, makes adding bipods or sling with QD swivels in seconds. It'll save you a few bucks over getting the cumbersome adaptor to. It even looks like factory.:D
