Went to the range/ woods / snowbank/ cold/ sucks, today to try my luck at the scope class shooting contest. I must say that is one tough target to nail at 100 yards. I normally shoot for "groups" to test my loads, and position my "Biathlon Stabilizer". Today I had to shoot for groups and put them in the center of the target. What a challenge, shoot 3 off to the right, adjust scope, shoot 3 off to the left, adjust scope, off to the left, adjust more, ouch to far, move back, not enough , to far, I was down to my last 10 round so I quit and used the Kentucky windage method, as you can see I am still off a bit from center. Today is the last day I will be able to shoot until spring, Christmas Season and a sh** load of snow on the way. The range I shoot at is not snowplowed in the winter so, I'm done, this is the best I can do this year.

Good shooting steve. You are in 1 st place in the scope class so far. That 2nd target looks like a nice 1.25" group.
I couldn't shoot this weekend, because a front moved thru with high winds. Next week I will take a stab at it.

Cajun,
Is that the new target? Is it the standard NRA 75' smallbore? I assume the protargets target is now obsolete?

Yes. The current contest rules are always posted as a sticky above. Hope you didn't shoot up all your ammo on an old target. If so at least you got some good practice in so this one should be easier for you.

Cajun,
O.k.-I just printed off 12 copies. I will try to get to the range this week to see how I do. 100 yds., Correct? Also, Have you tried loading some .223 Rem. using the lighter weight bullets? I went ahead and loaded some 40 grn. V-Max using IMR-4198, Rem. 7 1/2 primers, and I was surprised at how well they grouped. Perhaps higher velocity (3600 fps) equals less "barrel time", and therefore less time for harmonics to play a part in accuracy? What are your thoughts? :sniper:

Nuthin to feel bad about on those targets, Steve. Darn good shoot'n, then add in those conditions...... excellent!
I'd have you cover my back (and my front and my side) anyday.

Hey 2rangers each rifle is different. I'm working on some 50 grn ballistic tip. Dont' think I will have it worked out in time for this contest. So I will try with my 63 grn sp.
Yes 100 yds for scope class, 50 yds for Iron sights or red dots.

Thanks Doc, I appreciate the vote of confidence. You and all of the guys here are great. Without you guys my Mini would still be shooting 3 to 6 inch groups and"fliers" to boot.
Thanks
Steve
