I'm really not sure whether to post this here or in the C&R forum, as this is a bolt action, but it is also about ~50 years old. Anyway, I have a Western Auto Revelation in .22 magnum that has been in my family for about 40 years, and still shoots great. Incidentally, it has killed a man, but it was in a self defense situation. The man who used it worked on my dad's ranch at the time, was run off the road, and attacked by another man. He had the rifle in his truck, and used it. When it went to trial, my dad testified for his employee, and the guy gave my dad the rifle when he was acquitted and said he didn't want it anymore. I'll post some pics as soon as I gun kote it; I just ordered the supplies today, so give it about a week.

Wow! That gun's got some history behind it! Just goes to show the .22 is not in any way a harmless round. As soon as that little pill hits anything hard (bone) it shatters, sending shard of lead everywhere...cutting arteries, veins whatever gets in the way!

Uhhhh... well he used all 5 shots, and the guy didn't die for like a week or two, so draw your own conclusions about that.
An assailant could wreak a LOT of damage on your body in a week! Good that the employee had the gun with him and was able to defend himself, but I'll bet it wouldn't have been his choice if he was expecting trouble. Better to pick a self-defense weapon with a good track record of stopping (not necessarily killing) attackers. Just think how long the bad guy would have lasted if the .22 mag. had been a 12 gauge!

I never did gunkote it, but I reblued it with some G96. I'll get some pics sometime

Good choice, Blender. Any older gun like that should be blued, as in original condition.
Gun-Kote is fine for assault rifles and utility weapons, but nothing beats a nice, blue steel and wood stock classic. ;)
I'm looking forward to your pics!
