Ok, I know NOTHING about the FAL except that I want one. What do I do? Where do I get one? How do I get one? What kind should I get?

Resistance is futile: you will be assimilated! Welcome to the addiction. Use Rooster's links to browse the FALfiles; soon you'll know more than you ever thought possible and be able to make an informed decision.
Quick overview of your questions: Your first FAL should probably be a "standard" metric version. Yes, there will be more. I suggest metric because magazines are much cheaper and parts are more readily available than the inch-pattern rifles used by the U.K. and Commonwealth. Many inch and metric parts and assemblies are interchangeable, however. As far as maker, FALs range in price and quality from the Century Arms ones for about $400 to DSA's models at double that on up. There are also about a half dozen good shops (Ohio Rapid Fire, Azex, ARS, etc.) that specialize in FALs who will either sell you a "ready-made" rifle, or build one for you using your parts kit, receiver, and 922r compliance parts. Their names crop up frequently on FALfiles. This is probably the best way to go for a first FAL if you are not inclined to build one. The Century rifles have a well-deserved reputation for very spotty QC. Some run perfectly out of the box; others are nightmares that can never be coaxed into reliability without a total rebuild, most fall somewhere in the middle. You get what you pay for. They do make good "learning rifles", though.
The most enjoyable route is to get a good metric parts kit (about $175), an Imbel receiver (another $175), 922r compliance parts (call it $100, but you can do it for less), ARS/Gunplumber's workbook ($50 or less, and worth it), plus whatever "cool" parts from the various models (like Israeli handguards, inch selectors, folding charging handles, rear sights, etc.) you think belong on the "perfect" FAL and just build one. Kits are drying up, so I'd get one now if you can, even if you don't plan on building one right away. You'll need it eventually.
