Well, I am a novice when it comes to either the FAL or AR-10. Does anyone have both? How do they compare? Is one better than the other?

FAL without a doubt. More versatile, more reliable, more customizable, and equally if not more accurate.

If you really want the AR style platform get the Bushmaster BAR-10. If gives you the AR platform but uses readily available and inexpensive FAL magazines.

No, the only AR i've ever shot felt like i was gonna break it. Made this "spring-snap" noise every time i fired it, too. Plus, I forgot how much the AR-10 costs.

Well, I'll just put it this way. You can get an FAL and customize it to your hearts content for the money you would spend on an AR-10. Plus, no dreaded "spring-snap" sound with the FAL

how well does a FAL with standard barrel (i.e. no bull) shoot? will it go 1.5moa consistantly? 2moa? with high grade ammo of course.

Don't forget the availability (and price!) of spare magazines!

With Portuguese target ammo, my heavy barrel FAL printed its best group at 100 yards - 1 7/8 inch, 5-round group, off the bipod. 2 to 3 inches should be normal for any standard-weight FAL with good ammo (that Chinese stuff with the copper-colored steel cases is hopeless...ditto for PMC and Samson).

what? mostly over 2moa?

I think I might as well save up the money for a 1.5moa AR-10T carbine.....
