Here is my baby, A Savage 12 stainless in 22-250 with a Bushnel 6x18x50 scope Caldwell bipod, and a shell holder. Those are handloaded 55 grain balistic tip moly bullets with 39 grains of IMR 4320 behind them that you see in the holder. 3900fps of moly coated goodness. :D

Beautiful rifle crosshair! The 22-250 is a great cartridge. It's got range and punch!

3900fps = 2659 mph = Mach 3.5 except for the SR 51 that's faster than any aircraft I've worked on. Being a Savage I know it's accurate to.

Leupold is still the bench mark for scopes in the USA. I put a 30mm 6.5-20 on my 22BR and it is a nice scope and does the job and has the worlds best guarentee. I think they run around $800 now. That is probably as good as you can get for that price. There are a lot more expensive scopes and I talk to guys who say they can't be beat. If you have a couple of thou for a scope then Schmidt-Bender, Swartzky, etc are top of the line. There are bunches of scopes from $100-400 that have plenty of power and will do a decent job. Buy the best glass you can get, it is money well spent if you are going to use it a lot. Distortion around the edges, brightness, contrast, repeatablitly of the adjustments, etc are difficult to check in a store, but after a few days in a dog patch you will know, bnut alas that is too late if you made a mistake. It also costs a lot of money to go on cheap and then trade up a couple of times to finally get what you want..
Very nice Crosshairs. That should be a real shooter. The 223 is a good round. Do not fret on the scope - if it works for you - then fine.

Sorry Bull - I have to disagree with you on this one. I will take a Weaver or Tasco SS over the Leupold and have money to spare - and the Bushnel ain't bad either.

Crosshair, that is a NICE rifle. Congrats on putting together such a nice package. Don't let anyone spoil your day by talking down your equipment. If you are happy with it, nothing or no one's negative opinion matters.
Years ago I had a 22.250 varminter set up with a 'lowly' weaver scope. It blew crows off of fenceposts at a quarter mile. If I have the chance to get another I may just follow your lead.

Just an update on the rifle, I have swaped the bipod for a Harison one. I Dremeled it so I could get it to fit, much better bipod IMHO. :D I downloaded the loads to 35 grains because I was having problems chambering. Turns out that my rifle just doesn't like neck sized brass <_< , I plan working the loads back up with FL brass. Have not cronographed the 35 grain load, but I found that 38 grains gave the exact same performance (3900 fps) as 39 grains, must be as fast as the powder can push it.

Well I work at Wal-mart (don't laugh, it pay's well considering I go to school FT.) and the book price of the rifle was about $550. At christmas we get 20% off one item in the store, guess what I got last year. :D With tax the rifle was about $460. BTW our handheld scanners give us the markup percent as well as the price.(That comes in handy for other things too :D ) I calculated that the store bought the rifle for about $480. The scope was $130 - 10% (our regular discount) so about $125 with tax. The bipod, the one I have on now, I got at Cabelas for about $50. Mounting stuff for the scope was about $15. Grand total is about $650 for that setup. It took lots of saving, (as well as ramen and crackers  ) but it was well worth it.
BTW here is the link to the Wal-mart Online Gun Catalog (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/catalog.gsp?cat=170080&path=0%3A4125%3A4155%3A170080).
22-250, now that's a nice flat-shooting round. 2-liter bottles are one thing, prairie dogs are devestating. Nice setup, hope it shoots as good as it looks, I sure it does.
