this is a gibbs rifle "Summit" 45/70 lee enfield mk4 #2. it is fitted with a navy arms 21", 1:20 twist, barrel. it has a 5 rd removable mag, OAL is 40", weight is aprox 10# loaded. scope is a leupold vxII 1x4x20 and it weighs 12oz w/rings. the bi-pod is for display but i could use it. the scope has been lowered 1/4" since this pic.

the rifle is very accurate and solid and with the recoil pad it is NICE. you can feel the power but not the bite. :cannon:

Very nice rifle Swill! I think a 45/70 would be a fun cartridge to shoot - not as much kick as a .375 h&h, but still makes big holes. ;)

kravman4,
thanks, the 45/70 can be loaded mild to wild and still be accurate.

I knew the 45-70 was a large cal, but there are 3 in my Hornady manual, a 45-70 (Trap Door), 45-70 Marlin, and a 45-70 Ruger which has up to a 500 hrn bullet. Which do you have?

That is a nice looking Enfield.

thanks cajun,
i load the ruger loads for my h&r single shot and marlin loads for the enfield. most all factory loads are safe in a "good" trap door. neither rifle kicks too bad, less than a 12 ga shot gun.
