Has anybody tried "Accuracy Rifle Systems" shim bedding system. And if so, How does it compare to Pillar and Glass bedding?
Thanks
From ARS sight -
"NEW ARS BEDDING SHIMS- This shim set will simulate the rife having been bedded. We have experimented for years with different shim products to find a cost-effective alternative to standard bedding. These are made from EPVM in a woven Kevlar matrix. Due to this they will maintain their compressibility with time and will not deform and become ineffective in their function plus they are roughly ¼ the cost of standard bedding. Comes with instructions. Set for one rifle - $19.95"
(link to ARS is in the mini link sticky thread)
I'd be interested to see what their "shim kit" entails. I wonder if it's the same thing I did with steel shims on the recoil lugs or felpro gasket paper under the trigger plate. If it is I spent alot less than $19.95 for materials, but mine aren't EPVM in woven Kevlar matrix.
I wonder if ARS got the idea from being on here or if great minds think alike. :D

The reason I am asking is, I need to bed my Mini-30 and I am not as handy as you guys. I think I need some step by step instructions so I don't mess things up. Maybe I'll order one of these and give it a try. My goal is to eliminate "fliers", and from what I have read on this forum bedding is a good place to start. I purchased my Mini-30 in the early 80's and I have done nothing to it except refinish the stock.
I just started handloading and found a receipe using AA1680 that is pretty good at 75 yards except for those fliers. My Mini shot it's best groups at lower velocities 1900 to 2288 with 125gr Sierra Pro Hunter. If I went over 2300 fps I was all over the place. I have a few different powders to try and maybe I can get good groups and a little moe vel. But first the fliers must go. I will try and attach a photo.

Order Mike Knifongs bedding video. He shows you step, by step how to bed any stock for the mini. I used the Acraglass Gel Kit (green box) as it does a neater job. Cost about $13 at Midway. Enough for 4 rifles. If you can rough up the inside of the stock with a dremmel, or rough sand paper, and can spread cream cheese on your bagle, then you can bed a stock yourself. Course it's a little more involved than that, but basicly its easy especially after seening it done on the video.
Go to the Mini links Sticky, and look under articles for Bedding the M1 it is sort of like the pics, only I didn't use near that much clay.

Where can I get Mike Knifong's video?
My handloads shoot better when I slow them down a little also, a good medium velocity seems to work best for my mini 14. Get the video and bedding in and you'll have a great shooter even now you got a good shootin' mini 30.
-good luck tri

Thanks, I found it earlier and send him an email. I heard it may take some time to hear from him so I think I'll go fishing.
