I'm going to try to get a posting of my group to with 60 gr v-max, 3 touching and 1 half inch high, 1 flyer. The bad part is the flyer hit were I was aiming on the bull and the other 4 grouped right and 3'' low. <_< I can't complain I sighted on 40gr v-max yesterday and shot decent groups but when I shot today the 40 and 50 gr were 4'' and 5'' patterns but great on the 60 gr. I shot the 40gr 1st 5-shot string, 60gr 2nd 5-shot string, 50gr 3rd 5-shot string.
I have a 196 series mini with a Hogue stock and shimmed reciever, BSA scope 4-10x50 and a piece of 1/2 heater hose for harmonic dampening! :D smith style break, polished action, recoil buffers and roll pin gas port bushing.

I was trying 40 and 50 gr v-max with the 10x 23gr powder but the group today was with the IMR 4198 20gr and 60gr v-max.

going to find something to hunt this weekend!!

So the 60 grn v-max with the IMR powder shoots better in your mini?

The problem I had with IMR powder is it is extruded. It dosen't meter consistantly in my Lyman powder measurer. I have to weigh, and use a trickle despenser on each case. Otherwise each round will be different.

One thing I did not mention was I cleaned my bore up and used Tetra bore conditioner on it, I think also helped with the group. I tried this before and got good groups with the 60 v-max bullets. I picked up the Tetra bore conditioner from a local gun store for $3-4 for a 4oz bottle. I cleaned the bore first with Hoppes solvent and brass brush, ran patches down until clean, then applied the bore conditioner. I encourage others to try the same thing with their pet loads or other brand of conditioner or something similar. I don't rember how many shot it is good for but right now I have 5 shots on the bore.
