I am considering getting a glock 26 and was wondering if any current/past G26 owners could tell me their opinions of the pistol. I currently own a G17, and like it very much. Thanks for the input.

If you like Glocks it is a good choice for carry. That is if you don't do the same as most people do. The hard part to conceaal for carry is NOT the slide or barrel, it's the grip. The abbreviated grip on the mini-Glocks lends itself to concealment but most people add an extension so they have a place for their pinky. So now you have a short bbl pistol with a mid-size grip length. Why not just purchase the mid-size to start with and have the extra bbl length for additional sighting plane and velocity?

The G26 is a great little gun. It is accurate and I shoot it without the grip extention. I just wrap my pinky under the mag and it feels very solid in my hand. My prefered gun is the G19 and it is my main carry gun.

I've shot the G36 in .45ACP before, a guy at the range had one and we swapped for a while. I had to use a similar technique with my pinky when firing it, at first it seemed awkward since I was familiar with a full size frame but got the hang of it quickly. I have a 17, I figured I'd go for a 26 since I have plenty of 9mm at my disposal, more than I probably need but not as much as I'd like. ;)

You will love the G26! Many different carry options. I prefer the sidearmor IWB for concealed carry but I wearing mine right now in an Alessi ankle holster. Very dependable. I have never had a FTF or FTE with this gun. I feel very confident using it for my concealed carry weapon.

Be Safe.

Forgot to mention the magazine extension. I bought those the same time I bought my gun. As mentioned before, they were defeating the purpose of easy concealment so I quickly got used to shooting without them. Just curl your pinky in under the grip. Very comforatable and easy to control.

GO FOR IT!

I am very fond of mine. Very accurate little pistol. Conceals quite easily. Will use your G17 mags, (if you happen to have some hi-caps it is a great asset). I often carry it when I wear shorts and a t-shirt.http://www.planetsmilies.com/smilies/happy/1/happy13.gif

I went to a rather large show today with the intention of picking up maybe a used 26..however there were NONE to be had! About a 15 or so used 27's (.40) available, though. Needless to say I'm now considering a new 26, or a S&W 99 compact. I like the slimmer slide on the 99, and the trigger is silky smooth....any ideas / feedback / comparison would be appreciated. Oh, it would be a daily carry gun, replacing a POS Kel-Tec 9mm.
thx

My 26 is the least favorite of my 3 carry guns on my CCW. I find that the length of the bbl on a Glock doesn't have anything to do with concealability, while I have so little of the frame and bbl below my belt with my inside the waist band holster. I find that the 19-32-23 etc carry better for me. I use the same holster for both: Threat Solutions. When I go small, I carry a Kahr PM9, much thinner and lighter.also in a Threat Solutions rig. But that is me, your mileage may differ.

the 26 looks a bit too small to be trusted... thats my reaction, the thing is like a big bigger than some cell phones

mrmeyer......I shoot the 26 all the time but let me say this first. I wear a size 13 glove, and THAT'S tight. My hands are quite huge. No where in any regular store can I find gloves to fit my hand. My only resort is the BIG MAN'S store, or O'Hmar's the tent maker. My palm swallows the 26. But I love it! Practice, Practice, Practice.
Even as I type this message, I have to correct many words because my fingers hit two keys! Go for it!!!!!

Kahr PM9 or 40 for that matter, both are lighter and smaller than the Glock. Handle them both and then you decide. No compitition in my book, but to each his own.
