This is my first assembly

A buddy of mine got me started and I just went for broke. I’m still not completely satisfied and by the time I am done I will have enough parts for 2 guns. I guess I will have my show gun and my everyday driver.

Here is a list of all modifications
1. Scope...............BSA Optics 8 x 32 x 50mm
2. Scope Mounts....1 in Weaver style High mount.
3. Barrel...............Butler Creek Featherweight Tri-Ported
4. Stock................Richard’s Microfit Tactical Thumbhole Target Bench Style
The Color is Imperial Laminate
5. Trigger.............Volquartsen TG2000 Trigger assembly

Very nice gun and that is a great group. I am still trying to work on a group like that at 50 yards - least 75 yards. Good job!!! ;)

Sweet rifle.

I agree with Coyote, I'd be happy enough with that group at 50 yds.

You happy with that BSA?

I was a little leary of them at first, but had a good experience with my first, a 4x-16x-40, so bought another, ?x-24x-40, which I'm super happy with for the price. Gets a smidge of blur at the perimeter of the lense at 24x.

How's the 50mm optic handle 32x. Clear? Bright?

Again, sweet rifle, I like that stock--might have to look for a lefty version.

Thanks for the compliments Guys.

As for your questions Paul…I love the scope. I purchased the scope from the BSA web site for what I thought was a steal…then I found out that Cabelas sells the same BSA scopes for about 50 to 75 dollars less.

I have not tried using the scope at 32 yet. When I shot the grouping above, I had the magnification set at 22.

As for the Blurring around the edges…I did not notice it. I will have to take a look next time I go out and let you know.

The 50 mm lens is nice I think it is clear and bright, but since this is my first build up it is also my first scope so I really do not have anything to compare it to. All in all I am very pleased with the set up.

I will be adding the Volquartsen THM Tension Barrel this summer along with the barrel scope mount. I think that should work well with this set up and get some good groupings at 100 yrd.

Yes, very good shooting indeed! Just curious, was this accomplished in an indoor range or an outdoor range? Also did you use subsonic or supersonic .22 ammunition for this shot?

I used CCI’s Green Tag bullets. It’s a 40 grain lead round nose at a sub-sonic 1070 ft/sec

This was shot at an outdoor range Fri May 7th. The temperature was about 87-90 degrees and the wind was Calm. I have a few other targets when the wind picked up a bit and they are not as good. This was the best target of the day.

For that kind of accuracy, those conditions sound about right. The damn wind plays havoc with those little .22 bullets. I've got a couple hundred rounds of CCI Green Tag that I've been waiting to try through my gun to see how it shoots, but it's too windy out where I live (today we had gusts upwards of 60 mph). Maybe it'll calm down in a few days and I can try it out. I've tried all kinds of fancy schmancy target ammo in my .22 guns, but the one I've always found that works best is plain old Federal Classic Hi-Power (I stock up on bricks of that stuff whenever I can and go through it pretty fast!). It's great for 50 yd targets, but you lose a little bit of accuracy when shooting @ 100 yds, as the bullet transitions from supersonic to subsonic flight at ~60yds. This is true of Federal Lightnings as well.

Again, nice rifle and great shootin'!

Welcome to the forum bdv1973. Looks like you have the bug too. I'm thinking about my 3rd 10/22. Maybe with the new .17M2 barrel when they come out.

You got that correct cajungeo I have the bug bad...and that is good.

I have also been doing some research about that new 17 mach 2 & it sounds interesting.

I was reading on the Volquartsen web site that they have been doing some testing and they have disvovered for 10/22 users you will need a new Bolt and barrel for this new 17 M2 and they will have it out by Mid to late summer. Around the same time the bullet is released.

That was what I was thinking of going with but I have not completely made up my mind.

Still have some time to think about it.
