Just thought you FN fans might like to know that the FN FAL is one of the issue weapons for the Qatari soldiers I work with. They have a few different rifles in their military, but guards carry the FAL. There main comment is that it's too heavy for guard duty, weighing in at "7 kilos, empty."
What sort of FAL weighs over 15 pounds? The ones that DSA sells are about ten. What does an regular M16 weigh? 8.5?

don't forget ammo (usualy double clips together) and bayonet. "HEAVY METAL"
an empty H&K 91 with retract stock and sling only, weighs 13.5 lbs
great weapons though

The Qatari soldiers will be happy with the Heavy Metal full, slower cycling, full auto FAL when they get bum-rushed. As opposed to the M14, the fal is very burst controllable. The 7.62 full auto is a serious "crowd pleaser". At "guard to perp" ranges, against body armor & shields (even other perps), and non critical hits the 7.62 will excel.
Slower cylic rates should raise hit probability over a full auto sub or S.A.W., in the right hands.
Heck, at the very least, they're getting excersise toting the FAL. People pay for that here in the states.
